1901 - Helms Athletic Foundation (HAF), National Championship Foundation
(NCF)
1902 - HAF, NCF
1903 - NCF
1904 - NCF
1918 - NCF
1923 - NCF
1933 - College Football Research Association, HAF, NCF
1948 - AP
1997 - AP, Football Writers Association of America, National Football Foundation

Its pretty easy to get that list down to 1.5 titles. I think boneadude could get it to zero, with his skill.

Well, if we're really going to go by the NCAA's word, the NCAA record book lists Ohio State officially with 13:

Regardless, I think bornahorn's ability to present an opinion, then support that opinion with further exaggerated opinions, is worthy of a Tom Friend Award:

The Bucks lost the '98 Sagarin in that compiled list last year to the modified SOS formula (though technically it's still recognized if Sagarin now counts twice):
The 2004 NCAA Record Book had a few new twists to it. First of all, the BCS mandated change of removing margin of victory from the computer formulas has affected a couple of the selectors. First of all, Billingsley has retroactively changed all of his rankings, including his retroactive ones, to use his new formula. This means that some schools that used to be Billingsley champions in certain years no longer are. Some of these schools even recognize these titles, which does shows you the problem with using some of these late model computer rankings in their selectors. In the recognized section I have marked which of these “illegitimate� titles each school recognizes. Some schools also recognize titles that are listed differently in the Record Books, also, which I have marked. Also different is that both of Sagarin’s champions are listed in the 2004 book, his regular formula and the BCS formula (ELO-Chess). The book marks it as if it’s a shared title, but I have it as another selector. Since the 2004 Record Book contained new information and was released after the school’s published their media guides, the schools obviously won’t have the chance to update their records using the new selectors in the Record Book.

i think born a horn is mad because 7 is a bigger number than 3 and we all know how they think "everything is bigger in texas" --- did you see how BH tried to go from 5 to 4 to 3 titles just so it wouldn't look so much bigger than his measly 2 titles(by his rationale)

Fine, you can have seven national championships. Hell, why stop there? You can have fifteen. Take as many as you want. And after we beat you in the Shoe and USC in the Rose Bowl, we can find some foundation to call you national champions this year as well. Obviously that is all you guys need to be happy
