genron, not sure if you've already touched on this but if LJ fell in love with a school and wanted to commit early(like before his senior year) would you be comfortable with that or would you advise him to hold off until signing day?

Well he commits to the right school I wouldn't have a problem with it. He'll keep his commitment. Especially if its OSU or FSU. Any other school and I'll be concerned about.. UF in the very beginning could have been b/c they came out the gate so hard and he really liked UF campus until that miami game....Almost every student had on a F*** Miami shirt. It was a image of the Da U sign you make with your hands but instead of your fingers together only the middle finger was up. On the drive up to the stadium kids were chanting f miami and all 6 of us in the car were pissed. Thats dissing the home team right here. Thats why they get no players from Miami, every kid respects the Da U. anywayz....

Wassup with a hotel thats close to the campus? I need to get a room. I hope they are not full as of yet. any suggestions?

Here you go gen... Northwest Columbus Hotels near Ohio State University OSU - Columbus, Ohio OH

Anything in columbus or downtown will be 2-5 miles away. everythings pretty close. Whats cool about Ohio State is that its its own universe, but 2 miles away is a major city with a ton to do. Enjoy yourself!!

I think Olentangy River Road / Ackerman hotels would be close and nice. I don't know if the Holiday Inn on Lane is still open (re:bad news for henygate). There were a couple hotels on that list I would avoid for various reasons. The Blackwell at Tuttle Crossing is probably a very nice place but Dublin Ohio isn't going to be much fun. There was a couple listed on Clara off 71 that I think is in an iffy neighborhood and again not much fun.

Downtown is close to Campus and the Brewery District / Short North (convention center) / German Villege scenes are interesting. There are a couple hotels in that area that didn't show up on the list but are nice. re-centering a hotel search at Spring st and High St (cartisean center of Columbus) would probably work well.

This dates me but... there is a "new" mall at the Lennex Center. I am not sure if there are accomidations near there (Kenny Rd & 5th Ave) since the entire area was just a stack of pallets when I left town. If there are hotels there then they would be new and well situated.

The Blackwell is not at Tuttle Crossing in Dublin, it's on Tuttle Park on campus. Right across the street from the stadium. I'd try that first, although it books quickly.

The decent hotels on Ackerman would be the Hilton Garden Inn or the Fairfield (owned by Steinbrenner). Also a Red Roof, University Plaza, and Varsity Inn (those three are decent but nothing special, other than they're close).

There's a lot to do downtown. Real nice Hampton Inn on High Street that is basically in the Arena District. 5-10 minute cab ride straight up High Street to campus.

I liked Red Roof Inn's location before I moved to cbus.

You're 1.1 mi from the stadium, immediately across the street from tailgating, and a half mile from the highway (if you want to head downtown or other reas). You're also about a quarter mile from the WHAC (Woody Hayes Athletic Center), where the athletic facilities and offices are. Between you and the stadium are the rest of the newly constructed sports venues, basketball, track, softball, even rowing... as well as the WHAC.

That location was perfect for location on gameday or checking out the facilities (including the Jack Nicklaus museum). It was nothing special inside, just a place to crash.

I would recommend wandering east of High Street and finding a party to crash/sleep.

In all seriousness, I second JWins. Good location for a visitor.
