So I did Behr Deckover on a large deck. This was 2 years ago. It is now coming off all over the deck down to the bare wood. My understanding is that Behr discontinued the product and even though it is guaranteed, all they will do is give you replacement cans of it.

It looks like I’m going to have to strip the deck and redo it. :pissed3:

Mentioned in shetuck’s Ozone Hole thread I’d just had my AC recharged. Turns out it’s busted and I’m having the whole thing (furnace too) replaced Friday or early next week.

To add insult to injury, we have a French drain which drains the AC into the pad, so that’s all backed up due to ground water saturation from a week ago and the line of storms hitting us yesterday through the foreseeable future, which means there’s water in that side of my basement.

Go downstairs today after work to do a load of laundry to find the washing machine was stuck on Rinse and water just pouring out the overflow outlet and all over the floor, and it had probably been running for 30 or 45 minutes. Run two test cycles... it doesn’t detect the water level and the agitator won’t spin on final rinse.

This week is going to leave me 10G lighter.

See you all in the Late Night Drunk thread in a couple hours after my kids go bed.

Mercury is in retrograde all this month so you may want to give serious thought to wait till next month to buy anything mechanical. Or start a project.

Yeah, just ride out July with no AC because...Mercury

Hey honey, you and the kids get no AC in July and can’t do laundry until Aug 1, and oh by the way, we’re going to have to cancel that Florida vacation due to the unexpected expense of replacing the four most expensive appliances in our home.

We’re cool? Right?

Stripping a deck was one of the worst DIYs I’ve ever experienced. Would have preferred to tear down and start new.

Get old boots out for the stripping.

French drains are WORTHLESS!

Any honest contractor will tell you so.

14 days in hell has mercifully ended. I have a new HE washer, dryer and an AC so functional and efficient my wife thinks 74 degrees is too cold and is currently covering up with the duvet and comforter and asking me to set the thermostat higher.

She’s become so acclimated to 80 degrees and humid in the house these past two weeks I might save myself $500 in electricity the rest of this summer because shes now cool with 76 and a high velocity fan.

Even my cats are so spoiled they don’t want to come out to the three season room to chase crickets. They’re like, “fuck you man, I’m laying here in front of a vent of cold air on my balls.”

Update on the HVAC... got a few quotes from “big name” contractors I deal with at work for our server room and was given estimates up to $7500. Wound up going with a local guy that runs his own plumbing and heating business (a Rheem dealer) and the final price tag for furnace, compressor, condenser, coil, thermostat, and all new drainage and duct work up to what was hidden in the finished ceilings in the basement was $4300. And Rheem replacement parts are half the price of Carrier, Trane, Lennox, and others, forgetting the 10 year warranty.

On the HE washer and dryer front I now realize I should have ditched the old porcelain tub washer 10 years ago and bought the good stuff. Holy fuck, we can do three times the amount of laundry with half the water and electricity!
