I essentially finished the bathroom this morning. Now the wife has to go shopping for decorations...Not bad for a $500-$600 renovation that probably would have cost in between 5-8k by hiring someone.

Is that vanity the one from Home Depot that comes with the top for like $50? Was thinking about going that route for my spare bathroom and wanted to know if it would be worth it.

Edit: This is what I was looking at: vanity

Yup. Sure is. Make sure you open up the box before purchasing to make sure there's no dings or broken pieces. In stores it was $40 FYI.

I'll be purchasing a 2nd one for my bathroom downstairs this winter. It's not top quality, but it will get the job done as long as its got a solid floor to sit on. She liked it and wanted it so I figured why not.

I ended up wrapping quarter round trim around the bottom. I had to place the little feet that come with it all in the front to make it level.

Is that the brushed nickle faucet for $19 in store? That looks exactly like what I was checking out online last weekend. Sweet. I was hoping not to spend a bunch on a vanity that will hardly be used.

Anyone know how to fix drywall seams showing up? I have them showing up in the stair well (in the picture) and on one side of my family room near one of the corners

First, be sure that seam is not showing up because the wall is moving....Has it always looked like that or has this "popped" up recently? If you've got bubbles in the seam, it might be moisture coming through?

If it's always looked like that, you'll need to redo the seam. Can't tell from the pic, but if the drywall tape is loose, carefully pull or cut it off and remove any loose joint compound that was around it. If, after removing all the loose stuff you can move the drywall by pushing on it at the seam, you'll need to add a few drywall screws to properly secure it. Then, retape and refinish like it was a new joint. Plenty of how to do vids available if you are not familiar with that. Or, most painters can take care of it if you want to add that to new paint job you're going to need too.

Good Luck! Personally, I hate drywall work.....

It's looked like that really since we moved in about a year a half ago. However, the line wast as noticeable then. Sounds like another project to do!

Thanks for the info. And yeah, I definitely hate drywall work as well

I hate drywalling, too. Mrs. Katt comes home covered in the dust and gets it all over my nice, clean bathroom. :pissed:

Three words:

Chair.
Rail.
Moulding.

On the wall going up the stairs??? Either it parallels the stairs and doesn't cover the seam, or it matches the seam and dead-ends at one of the stairs.

Either way, WHO THE FUCK SITS IN A CHAIR ON THE STAIRS?
