you should probably check out the future schedules of OSU. We alreayd have home and homes against USC, Va Tech, OK, CAL and Miami.

Just using these off the top of my head as examples of what we could do to toughen the schedule, Miami and Cal could be this years Washington....

Question: Does the State of Ohio get "involved" with OSU's sceduling? Just wondering, because that is part of the reason teams like UL-L, UL-M and La Tech now seem to be a staple of our schedule. The state got involved and "suggested" that we play the in-state schools to help increase revenue for those schools.

The Tulane thing was brought back for sorta the same reason (pre-Katrina), but mainly to try to revive a rivalry that has been dead for the better part of 2 decades, and on life-support for the better part of 4 decades.

Here's a post from another thread that should answer your question:

The legislature required us to do so for ten years as a condition of using state money on the Ohio Stadium renovation. Tressel has, in my opinion, taken it to ridiculous extremes by scheduling two and three games against them every year. He's putting the interests of "football in Ohio" ahead of the interests of the alumni who would prefer to see more interesting intersectional games and road trips to good locations.

My preference would be, once our ten year commitment is over, to stop playing them entirely. I'll settle for no more than one per year.

I want to see tOSU play an SEC team SOOOO bad. Is the lack of scheduling due to a lack of trying on our part, or a lack of desire to play a Big Ten team on theirs?
If you mean during regular season, I agree. I would like to see us schedule teams like Arkansas, South Carolina, Alabama or Auburn. Not the top tier teams, but these four would do. Maybe we substitute them for Oregon State this year...

Just wondering...

1) What's the soonest that we could schedule SEC games during the regular season?
2) Is there anything that a fanbase can do to help urge on the scheduling department?

Anyone else interested in seeing if we can schedule the SEC so that we have the opportunity to exorcise some recent demons?

That would be nice to see SEC vs. Ohio State regular season games, but the upcoming home and home with Pete Carroll's USC program is pretty impressive. Under Carroll, USC is arguably the team of the decade, and they have been 4-0 against SEC teams (they did home and homes with Arkansas and Auburn).

I will tell ya what I am doing...I am customizing a schedule against every SEC team on EA Sports NCAA Football 2008 and setting the game difficulty to Varsity rather than Heisman or All-American...

Me vs the computer...for all the marbles.

If Tennesee was willing to travel 3,000 miles out to Cal maybe they'd be up for a home and home? I would LOVE to see an OSU game in Neyland Stadium.

Another possibility would be to pick up somebody like Kentucky or Ole Miss to replace a MAC school in addition to our annual "headline" games with schools like Texas and Southern Cal. I know that wouldn't prove much but they'd be a better early test than YSU or somebody like Akron.
