Chunky butt? You're working hard to make sure you get a lump of coal (or tsun season tickets, not much difference) aren't you?

We spend a lot of time drumming up one-time donations when we have these occasional drives, but I think we can have a bigger impact thru recurring monthly donations. I appreciate that this site does not have a compulsory subscription, but at the same time the benefits for Buckeye planet that come with donating this way are huge. Just like with our home budgets, it makes things easier when you know for sure how much money you have coming in each month. I'd encourage anybody who can do it to consider this option - even if it's a small amount like $5 a month.

I'd also like to issue a challenge to our current monthly subscirbers: Please consider donating a little more each month on a recurring basis.

As far as I'm concerned, if any of us decide to donate just $5 more than what we're already doing each month, that's just as good as a new subscriber. I plan to up my amount, and I challenge any other current subscribers to do the same.

This Christmas I won on a couple Ohio Lottery scratch-offs, and have decided to donate that small amount as a one-time donation. The first two people who up their monthly recurring donation amount by $5/mo. or more will get my v50,000 gifts. Additionally, I will be changing my own subscription to a new, higher amount before the end of this drive. The next two people who up their subscription as well will get my other v50,000 gifts.

How can you do this? First of all, Deety has written up new instructions on how to edit your subscription:

Now, it doesn't appear that you can just go into PayPal and change your amount. You can however cancel your current subscription and start a new one in a higher amount. If you choose to do so, please note three things:

  1. The date your account will be charged will be based on the date that you start your new subscription. If this is different from the date that you are currently being charged, please make a note of this
  2. Make sure there will be enough money in your account in case there is an accident and your account is charged for both your old an new subscriptions. Deety has said that BP can issue a refund for an erroneous charge if needed, but please be aware of the potential for this situation and avoid any possible headaches that might come with it.
  3. If you make the change, please let an Admin know about it so BP is not budgeting for your old subscription anymore.
Finally, I hope everybody who can do so decides to step it up a little bit along with me. I don't know how many monthly subscribers there are, but if all or most of us chip in just a little more each month I think it can have a significant impact.
