Welcome to the Holiday Mini-Drive!
Many, many, many thanks to everyone who participated in the world's longest Spring Drive. :p
Thanks to your generous donations and our gradually increasing ad revenues, we've covered all of BuckeyePlanet's expenses as well as some basic monthly expenses for Clarity for most of this year. We squeaked by without a Fall Drive, thanks in part to occasional new donations and our small yet incredibly helpful core of monthly donors.
December's bills need a bit more fundraising, and we pretty much know where we stand heading into the new year, so we've decided to do a quick Holiday Drive to give us a boost between now and the next Spring Drive.
For the future, we're planning to do two short drives in 2010, for Spring and Fall. By deciding on two now, we can commit to making these nice, short drives that run intensely for just a few weeks. The rest of the time, we'll concentrate on enjoying the great community we've built here.
The Goal
BP's overall goal is $2,200 a month from both donations and ads. This covers direct site expenses such as bandwith, server use, software, upgrades, maintenance, etc. These costs range from $600-800/mo. The remainder goes toward basic expenses for Clarity, such as rent, utilities, and medical costs not covered by disability.
The goal for this drive is $2,500. We're $800 short for December, and that should ensure we're covered through the Spring Drive, which we'll start around the end of March or early April. If we raise more than $2,500, that will lower the goal for the Spring Drive. :)

Ad-Athon
One of the best ways you can help to support BuckeyePlanet is to suggest the site to those who might be interested in advertising on BP. This can create ongoing income to reduce pressure on the drives, help us support local businesses and the local economy, and provide some site speed benefits compared to network ads. BuckeyePlanet's content is premium only in quality, not price. Since we don't compel subscriptions by withholding content, but we still have expenses to cover, we're asking everyone to consider giving themselves a "voluntary premium" donation subscription this holiday season.

Click here, or in UserCP, near the bottom of the left menu, click "Paid Subscriptions." Select the amount you would like to donate monthly, and complete the PayPal transaction. You'll be given options for using your choice of PayPal balance, bank account, or credit card.
BuckeyePlanet only provides the configuration information for PayPal to know where to send subscription funds. Your subscription is actually located in your PayPal account, and changes or cancellations can be made whenever you wish. You retain total control.
