What has happened to offensive holding calls?

What has happened to the holding call? Have the rules been changed? Or are refs being coached not to call offensive line holding?

It is happening at all levels. In all reality, holding could be called on almost every play...anymore, it seems as if it depends on how obvious it is or if it has a direct effect on the play.

I agree completely though...it is a very inconsistent call.

Guys, this has been going on for years. Like Grad says, holding occurs on every play. What makes them call it? Who knows? I hate to say it, but it certainly opens up the door for fixing a game if you really wanted to.

On a side note, I don't think the Patriots have been called for holding since the 2000 season. Why do you think Brady does so well?

It seems it has to be blatantly obvious now-a-days for it to be called. I saw a lot of it when we played Texas too. The most obvious was when Nate Salley was held on one of Vince's runs in the 1st half. Not sure how obvious they have to be, but that one seemed pretty obvious to me...
