High School Reunions? Lame?

Eh, dont' see the point of them.

Some guy I knew actually had to choose between going to the OSU/Texas game in the Shoe or flying to his high school reunion and actually choose the reunion as he couldnt' afford both. He claimed he was a die-hard OSU fan so I frankly never understood his lame decision.

Went to my five year and no one had changed, except for the kid who thought he was the best athlete in the class. He had already gotten fat and bald. Now that I am back where I went to high school I cannot use distance as an excuse. I think I will just use, "I did not like high school the first time around. Why would I want to revisit it?" I see the people I want to see and have already told them not to expect me at the reunion. For some reason my wife wants to go.

yup, she most likely wants to meet the girls you used to date and measure herself against them. you will spend the night listening to her insult your previous choices! thats might just me being cynical but i doubt it.

See: "It's a trap!" above!

Actually, she has become very good friends with my first real girlfriend. She did not realize my old girlfriend was such until they had known each other for months. I tried to explain to my wife what a stud I was in high school. She just patted me on the head and laughed. Not sure how to take that one.

I seriously have no idea why she wants to go. She wants to go to her own next year and she hated high school with a passion.

Reunions are too much about trying to serve some crow to those you hated/envied.
Not a good situation to enjoy yourself(except Mili) and create anxiety in your mate. (wives seem to have elephant memories)

Create new, wonderful memories!

My high school didn't even have a 5-year. I guess if people really wanted to catch up they'd come back on the weekend and hit the bars. We always used to joke that the night before Thanksgiving was the reunion night because everybody was back from college.

I'd go if I happened to be nearby, but wouldn't go out of my way. Between Quantico Marine Base and D.C., most of my friends changed every two years, so you learn to enjoy them while you can and know you always have a friend regardless whether or not you stay in touch. There are a few people who momentarily pop into my life randomly every few years, and that's cool. One called a few years back at 3 a.m. during a road trip to see if I still lived nearby and could he stop in to do some laundry? There was another who used to show up on my doorstep after every breakup... last time he'd just found out about his wife's other current husband. That was weird.

I moved every 4 to 7 years just because my mom and stepdad didn't like to stay in one spot for long. When I was 25 and here on the west coast I ran into someone I had known when I was 10 and living in FL. She still remembered me, she had baby sat for me!
