The problem with that is, none of us are 100% sure these are false allegations, like it or not. Imagine what could happen to him if he spoke out and was wrong.SCBuck said:You don't get it. I am NOT implying Herby has a responsibility to be a tOSU mouthpiece. But, He does have the oppurtunity to defend OSU and he has CHOSEN not to do so. There is HUGE difference between being a tOSU cheerleader every week and defending his alma mater when being attacked with false allegations. I am very disappointed in his silence.
you gonna jump off the fence and choose a side john kerry?KillerNut said:Herbstreet has a job to do. But he also is a big whiner when everyone doesn't like him. It seems to me that he is surprised by the reaction that he gets. He is on National Television and gets the paycheck, putting up with things like this is part of the reason why it's so damn big. I wish he would just stop whining
That said, criticism is this offense and team is easy. We just are not that good right now. If he is going to be honest, and unbiased he does have a job to do and I think he does a fair job.
I do think however that he should take a bigger stand against the allegations or at least make a bigger point to say that their is nothing going on here that he can find, and point out that the article provides no material facts, just the hear say of questionable charachters that have played for us in the past.
Now, regarding the Clarett situation, I really don't believe it's been the painful distraction to the players and coaches as many believe. Understand, these guys are living and breathing football 24/7, or in the case of the players, going to school as well.
There's simply not enough time to pay attention, or to be affected to any large degree, by the controversy. If anything, it might bring the team closer together, as controversy often does.
It's worth noting that as a former OSU player, I can attest that I was never offered inducements by any boosters nor saw or heard of any such activity going on.
If any of Clarett's allegations are true, it's difficult for me to fathom. After all, he's not the first great player to walk through the doors at Ohio State. There are several former OSU stars in the NFL right now, in fact.
And in casual conversation with some of them last week, all said they were never given “$100 handshakes” or any other prohibited benefits.
Sorry on this one I don't agree! Herbdick is pushing his luck and has crossed the line of a true buckeye. I don't know if JT or another staff member pissed him off or he is simply trying to impress his colleagues. But he is not impressing me or a lot of true Buckeye fans. Bottom line is there is no twisting of words here, Geigers 100 % right! One other thing about ineffectiveness, I have seen much improvement over the last four weeks on offence haven't you? In edition Anything negative said on our website could not land us that next great recruit. Herbstreit says these things on live TV ... not to mention on the GAMEDAY show.OilerBuck said:It's getting taken out of context. I didn't see any problem with what he said, but there have been major twists on peoples words recently. All Buckeyes are up in arms.
