Help me out.. Digital Camera-

BuckeyeMafia

A Leaf on the Wind
Alright, I need a new digital camera, and so far, you guys have been good to me.

Specifications are -

thin
good picture quality
shakey-ness? image stability if possible
under $250 total- but not a cheapy

Thanks!

Stay with a quality name like Canon or Nikon. Or even Minolta.
The Canon Powershots are great little cameras.
But remember, all these cameras are thin plastic so do not drop them! Wear the strap over your wrist every time.

From consumer reports. If you would like more info PM me and I can send you the whole report.....

Best values for most people:

? Canon PowerShot A720 IS , $200
? Canon PowerShot SD870 IS ELPH , $310

Both compacts have 8-megapixel resolution, very good print quality and an optical image stabilizer. The Canon PowerShot A720 IS has a viewfinder; the PowerShot SD870 IS ELPH doesn't. The PowerShot A720 IS offers a 6x optical zoom, manual controls, manual focus, very good next-shot delay and good shutter lag. The PowerShot SD870 IS ELPH is very small for a compact, but slightly larger than its predecessor, the PowerShot SD800 IS ELPH (a Quick Pick that fits in a pocket). It has a 3.8x optical zoom with wide-angle capability, excellent next-shot delay, very good shutter lag, and a 2.9-inch LCD.

For flexible editing and composition:

? Canon PowerShot G9 , $460

This 12-megapixel, full-featured compact has a 6x zoom, very good next-shot delay, good shutter lag and very good picture quality. It includes an optical image stabilizer, manual controls, manual focus, optical viewfinder and face detection. Unlike its predecessor, the PowerShot G7, the G9 has RAW-file capability and a 2.9-inch LCD.
For a camera that fits in a pocket:

? Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W80 , $200
? Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX30 , $220
? Canon PowerShot SD800 IS ELPH , $280
? Olympus FE-280 , $200, CR Best Buy
? Kodak EasyShare M853 , $140, CR Best Buy

All recommended subcompacts have a 2.4-inch LCD. The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W80 has excellent picture quality, excellent next-shot delay, and very good shutter lag. The Panasonic has excellent next-shot delay, very good shutter lag, wide-angle capability, and an optical image stabilizer. The EasyShare M853 has a 3x optical zoom, very good picture quality, can zoom while recording video, excellent next-shot delay, but only fair shutter lag. The Olympus is a very good value. It has very good battery life, picture quality and next-shot delay, but only fair shutter lag. The Canon has excellent next-shot delay, very good shutter lag, wide-angle capability, optical viewfinder, and an optical image stabilizer.

If a long zoom is a priority:

? Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H9 , $400
? Canon PowerShot S5 IS , $350
? Canon PowerShot S3 IS , $350
? Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3 , $250
? Fujifilm FinePix S700 , $190

All have an optical image stabilizer, except the Fujifilm, which includes a simulated image stabilizer. The Sony has the longest zoom range, at 15x, and a 1080i output for HDTV (but no included cable). The Panasonic has a 10x zoom, with a wide angle, and very good next-shot delay but only fair shutter lag. The two Canons have 12x optical zooms. The Cyber-shot and both PowerShots have excellent next-shot delay, adjustable LCDs, manual controls and can zoom while recording video, but are somewhat heavy. Both the DSC-H9 and the S5 IS have face detection, but the PowerShots are the only 12x zooms with manual focus. For a budget compact, the Fujifilm is a fine choice, with 10x zoom and short shutter lag. However, it has no wide-angle capability.
