just curious as to why they don't let the entire season play out before they decide the winner...people have terrible bowl games and in the end the last game of the season should matter a lot...
any thoughts???

I was really pulling Vince Younce but after his performance today and Reggie Bush's the other day I say it's Bush hands down.

As far as why they don't let the entire season play out, I think it's due to the fact that of the way of old if you know what I mean. It's was that way before we seen this modern age of football and longer schedules and newer boel schedules

If there was a Heisman for the defensive player of the year, this would be my list...

1. AJ Hawk
2. AJ Hawk
3. AJ Hawk

But on when they vote for the Heisman, I think it should be moved back actually. The way it is now, conferences that have champ games(i.e. ACC, SEC, Big 12) give their players one more game to "boast" or "pad" their stats. Putting conferences like the Big Ten at a disadvantage. So I say vote at the end of the regular season and don't allow voters to have the CCG in their decision.

BTW I also think that since Archie won it twice, that he should get two votes.

I'm also now at:

Bush
Young
Leinart

I'd have Quinn and Hawk as the other 2 in NYC.

But there are still some games left. Nobody should submit an actual vote until all the regular season games are over.

1: Bush
2: Leinart
3: Harrison

my method of selection?.........i pick whichever one is just the straight up best college football player.

to be honest, i dont understand why you would pick the best straight up player in college football. i think it should go to ONE OF THE BEST that also helps win games. Hence, harrison should not be on there since his team according to the site you posted is 4-7. he might be good, but did not help out the team entirely. granted it was not all his fault, but still....

I have noticed that the Heisman Award has shyed away from what it once used to be. Paul Hornung of Notre Dame won it...that year Notre Dame had a losing record. That has only happened once in history where a player won it on a losing team.

Look at when Archie won it the second time, he only had what like 4 td's that year? By today's standards, there is no way he would have even been in Top-10, let alone win it. I feel the award should go to who is the best PLAYER, not who has the best stats.

So yes the player should have good stats and his team should have a good record. But that is not why the Heisman award was started for. It was started to give a award to the best college football player, not who plays for the best team.

This year they will finally get it right for the first time in a while and actually give it to the best player in the nation...Reggie Bush.
