Heisman 2012 vBet and discussion

I do NOT want to like Geno Smith .. but I did watch some of last weeks game... and he was on fire... he put every ball exactly where it needed to be... with exactly the right touch on each throw... he was in the zone for 60 minutes

He's not going to win it, but he should...

Manziel's performance was definitely better than Kleins this week and his numbers are miles ahead. That said, Klein hasnt allowed his team to lose a game this year and that is going to count for something. I'd say a lot has to do with what Kenyon Barner does tonight against Cal.

I'm guessing Barner goes for 200 and 3 scores and pulls even with Klein. Manziel will be a close third with Brax fourth and Teo 5th with a less than stellar performance tonight also.

Manziel as only a freshman is scary.

he'll either get killed trying to do this every week for a few more years, or he'll go down as one of the best ever in the SEC.

both are still legit options going forward.

With how reckless he is, this is most likely going to happen.

Rough year for predicting the Heisman in the preseason.

Only the last 2 guys on the list are viable candidates at this point (since AJ McCarron's probably out of it now), and Barner, Te'o, and Manziel were more than 100-1 odds. It's possible that Aaron Murray and Marcus Mariota will now be getting attention.

I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere before, although it's possible; but I'd like to offer the opinion that Barner's sucess is due to him being a "system running back". I'm saying that his candidacy is determined only by him being the featured back in Oregon's running attack, rather than him being among the best RBs in the nation. In the same vein that Heisman QB candidates were criticized for being in offenses like Texas Tech's a few years ago.

Scary to think of next years Heisman race...Brax, Johnny Football (T A/M), De'Anthony Thomas (Ore), Marcus Mariota (Ore), Everett Golson (ND)...wow.

Was thinking about this the other day too. Tajh Boyd and Teddy Bridgewater are two others that could be in the mix and it seems like 'Bama is due for a RB to compete.

This year seems like the easier year to take it with a pretty weak/young field. It looks like it will be a much more competitive next year. Of course things can change in a hurry, ask Matt Barkley.

Although you never know what will happen, it's tough to think that the QB who will more than likely own every record at Ohio State may leave without winning the Heisman.

Although. it seemed to work out ok for Peyton Manning...
