The other possibility (not to deny conspiracy theories here, even my mother thought the NBA officiating was rigged for years ) is that the NBA talking heads and powers that be and Darth Stern don't care if the Heat win a title, and in fact they generate more interest, coverage, and $ when they come close, but don't. It's much like a pro wrestling villain chasing the title...they proclaim themselves the best, and they are much more interesting and "dangerous" when they haven't gotten what they want yet, so they beat up everybody and attack announcers and ring bell guys and the crowd hates them and shit. When they finally win the title, oftentimes people get tired of them quickly. If LeBitch and BitchWade win a title, the interest in whether or not they get their second will pale in comparison to what it is when people tune in just to see them fall flat on their face in pursuit of their first. I would argue from a marketing, ratings, and interest standpoint, the Heatles are worth exponentially more chasing a title than they are after they win one.

this is really too in depth. bottom line is that a lebron/durant final is david stern's wet dream. watching okc run boston out of the arena over and over isn't exciting.

but, if you want to follow your premise, the villain isn't that interesting if good always wins. knocking the villain from the throne is a much better story line than the bad guy falling flat on his face over and over. it was a much better story last year because miami was anointed king from the start.

game 2 called and asked if you'd prefer an uncalled forearm to the cranium or a karate kick to the hip.
Seriously.

I try to refrain from blaming officiating too much in most sports, but the nba is a different animal. How anybody could watch those first two games and not, at least, question it is beyond me.

It was so bad that they've had to dial it back the past three games after the public outcry of the first two. It's no coincidence that in those three games the c's have clearly been the better team.

Comparing today's nba to the wwf is spot on. It may not be out-and-out "scripted", but it's, um, heavily "guided" to the results they want.

A bad call doesn't equal a conspiracy. If that call is made, it's far a from a guarantee the Celtics win that game.

no, a series of lopsided calls highlighted by two of the most egregious, both of which happened in the last 2 minutes of overtime, both of which were de facto game clinchers for miami, followed by two straight days of media uproar, followed by 3 games in which the foul disparity was nowhere near as lopsided makes that argument.

reilly jumped the journalism shark years ago. lebron doesn't need to close because he was so good for the other 40 minutes of the game that people should ignore the fact that in the last 8 minutes of game 5 he went 1-4 with the one make being a gift layup?

people should ignore him throwing a feeble pass to a blanketed haslem that let the game go into overtime in game 4, or the two straight shots he had to close out game 3 which he choked?
