HC Ryan Day (2019 B1G Media COY)

The guy was an anti Ohio State FOX broadcast analyst for the entire game......:roll1:

I dont get that from him. Honestly he usually is all for OSU but maybe he's getting some grief about it and is starting to become the Devils Advocate by request. Seems a little like Herby was before he went all ESecPN fluffer.

His analysis is usually really good, but he was off on the targeting call. Most usually are unfortunately

2021, the first time Ohio State allowed 30+ points to opponents in their first two games. Congratulations, Coach Day.

Ohio State has trailed at halftime their last three games, losing two of them. The one win was against Minnesota. Opponents have scored 30+ in all 3 games.

Recruiting a half dozen five-star WRs is cool, but how about some defense? Day was handed the HC job, and a great team, but what is he doing with it?

I guess we'll see over the rest of the season, but it has to be better than what we've seen so far. We look like Oklahoma State, not Ohio State. Fix it up.

Noted this in the game thread last night. Through 26 games at tOSU:

Urban Meyer: 24-2, 16-0 vs B1G
Ryan Day: 24-2, 16-0 vs B1G

Urban Meyer took over a 6-7 team after a year of probation (and promptly went 12-0). Day was handed a 12-1 team, fresh off a B1G title and Rose Bowl win.

Starting points were far different.

Day's 2021 season isn't off to the best start, to say the least. We'll see what he can do with the rest of it.

He hired Jeff Hafley who was an absolute homerun hire.

He was so good, in fact, that he got a head coaching job after 1 year at OSU.

Tough situation. I don’t think anybody thought Coombs would be a poor hire as DC. But Day caught a bad break. Between Hafley being a rock star, Mattison retiring, and Coombs not being the guy he hoped…..you get a situation like this.

Tough situation, but I have confidence they’ll make the right personnel changes.

I sure hope so, but what's passing currently as "defense" will do well to make the B1G title game, forget about the CFP. My biggest concern was watching Oregon use motion to exploit man defense, time and again, and yet it continued into the 3rd quarter. Finally, in the 4th quarter, we mixed in some different coverages. It shouldn't take that long. Hell, you shouldn't even begin a game with such a one track mindset.

These coaches are paid a lot of money. They need to be better.

Ease up there Jake he lost a close played gam by 7 to a good team. Did the D look remotely good no. But no we don't look like Oklahoma state we look a lot more like Oklahoma which is also not good given their defensive issues

I'll say it again, for those in the back:
