HC Ryan Day (National Champion)

I know people are using Oklahoma as the recent comp but let me use a different one;
Bo to Moeller to Carr

Bo built a machine that kept running for what? 17 years before the wheels came off?

Day being the handpicked successor and placed into a situation optimized for continuity gives me all the confidence in the world.

Meyer built a program that is being passed along in tact.

The question is recruiting. There's no denying playing for Coach Meyer at tOSU is more attractive than playing for Coach Day at tOSU. But still.... tOSU.

There's going to be a dip in recruiting, IMO, and we'd be foolish to think there isn't. MUCH depends on how Day transitions to being able to recruit, but that dip won't appear until 2 years or so. Meyer was dead serious about how important it is.

The flipside of that is the ongoing "about to end" pitch has been hurting OSU with Meyer and LJ Sr. One half of that band-aid is ripped off and they can start to heal. The other side should be known soon. This is a perfect time to go for LJ Sr, if he returns, he's here for a good bit longer.

If I were in Coach Day's shoes I'd be going home tonight like, "Honey! I got the most expensive tree they had!"

If Day can keep 75% of the national talent that Urban was able to pull in, while reestablishing a stronger foothold in Ohio, He should still be able to win the B1G on talent alone most years, IMO. If he can pull in a solid DC, his ceiling is much higher.

They probably could have continued longer if Schembechler's hand-picked successor could handle his booze.
