HC Ryan Day (2019 B1G Media COY)

YOU. because YOU and the rest of the people who think that Ohio State has a chance due to the amount of money bet on them actually means something.

IT DOESN'T MEAN ANYTHING.

Vegas is NOT in the business of predicting outcomes. Vegas is in the business of collecting the most possible money. They pay the winners with the loser's money, which in a true 50/50 scenario is 10% profit. Futures are another thing altogether. They offer you "better odds," but THEY KNOW. More than you. More than me. More than anyone.

The House wins. ALWAYS. Don't EVER quote Vegas odds at me. My handle is my handle for a reason.
I'm aware that they always win and are smarter. I'm just wondering where I can find all of these OSU optimists this am.

unless it's still as simple as how dreadful the field is, and that because of this, OSU somehow still has a really good shot at this while that suspect

Not to mention that this hypothetical scheme makes no sense that you're going to induce people to bet on Ohio State winning by offering a smaller payout if Ohio State wins.

Well, if you throw out 2002/2003 and say well those are Cooper players...

2005/2006: Nick Mangold, Rob Sims, Doug Datish, TJ Downing, Kirk Barton. We added Alex Boone and Steve Rehring the year or two after. This line helped Troy win a Heisman trophy, National Title Birth, 1 v 2 UM game... Yeah we won all these games with finesse. Not with trench warfare. Won B1G titles, played in national titles, beat UM.

2009/2010: Jim Cordle, Bryant Browning, Mike Brewster, JB Shugarts, Andrew Norwell. Won a Rose Bowl against Oregon, won a Sugar Bowl against Arkansas. Won B1G titles, came up short with Rose and Sugar BCS berths, beat UM.

Just to note it, I wasn't asking to be a dick, I was trying to think of years that I had forgotten. If you include '02 and 03 you obviously have some of the best DLs OSU has seen, but the '03 OL and running game was worse than anything we've seen since. I'd argue that '06 was more finesse and was fully exposed against Florida. There were other things going on too, though. '09 developed into a really good team, but they were awful on offense until later in the season. '10 was a really good team but got exposed against Wisconsin.

Opinions now, especially surrounding Tressel, seems to be far from the reality that was. He was a run dependent coach, but they were never dominate on the ground. His rushing offenses relied on the best RB talent OSU has seen since George and mobile QBs creating something out of broken plays. There's nothing wrong with that, and he was great at maintaining controlled chaos with Troy and Pryor, but it was far from consistent. OSU didn't have the DL talent of the SEC powers to run that type of offense and smother elite teams.

I'm not advocating any tsun loss ever be forgiven. They're unforgivable.

I'm just saying knowing what he knows, Bjork won't be firing him for a couple more years at current pace, if even then.

Pay Tress and Urban to be consultants and just have them working on tsun stuff all year. Then hire Coop as the same but do the opposite of anything he suggests. Bada Bing bada boom. Never lose again

This is my biggest frustration. If you're the HC at OSU and don't have someone working on Michigan round the clock at this point, that's close to a fireable offense. Even if it's not the first two legends, it's gotta be a group of great QCCs, however many you need.

I don't want to think about the game again, but I want to hear from some Xs&Os guys. Apparently their defense barely blitzed and just sat in soft zone daring OSU to run or complete a bunch of short passes. That's usually Howard's strength, but not if they could drop 8 and maintain a rushing advantage against a banged up OL. I imagine that's partially why they did try to run more than anyone wanted, but also because Howard was off this game. I'm starting to think they should've tried Brown, but as much as I love the kid I thought the game was possibly lost when it looked like Howard would be out with a concussion.

The saving grace for Day is his $37mil buyout...
And the fact that OSU is in the CFP still. He needs to get to the final to continue with the good will among fans and boosters

No I think the good will was gone after '22. I get anger, but I've never understood hating your own coach and players, and spending more time spewing vitriol, personal attacks, making fun, etc. than cheering for the team. We've been there for a while now and it's only getting worse from here. The only thing that will salvage his relationship with the fans is somehow winning the CFP.

I did not take your post @1926Buckeyes as you being a dick.

I also have a hard time believing Ryan Day's wife is assaulted at Kroger in Powell, maybe if she does to the one in Delaware lol but aren't they at Olentangy Liberty? You think his family gets bullied there? I'm sure there are plenty of retards out there, but I think the person who is unhealthy RE: the rivalry is Day himself.

He has allowed it to consume him. To be bigger than him. His predecessors did not have this problem.

I feel bad for the guy, and his family. I do. But I am so tired of this narrative that OSU fans are so bad to poor Ryan Day and no one wants to coach or play here.

Fight or flight, and our guy freezes.

They live in Lewis Center. They do shop at the Kroger’s in Lewis Center. Not that I am stalking him or something……lol. (Just to make sure everyone knows I was saying this in jest…..I used a Central Ohio favorite term of “Kroger’s”)

I have 99.9% expectations Vrabel would not be the HC here, but the bigger question to me would be - how much recruiting would he have to do if he came here. You have a loaded staff that can recruit, does Vrabel pretty much stay home and just help close the deals on visits? With a GM, I doubt there is much involvement he'd have with NIL and the portal. He can focus on coaching, forced into some fundraising, but it's interesting to consider how you could frame it as enjoyable as possible for him.
We have 3 coaches aside from Day that can recruit and keep players (Hartline, JL and Walton). Bringing on a HC that doesn't want to recruit without willing recruiters as assistants would be a real problem, which is why I prefer Freeman if we can get him. I would love Vrabel, but I really don't think he would want the job tbh in this era of CFB.

Kelly doesn't want to recruit, so he's gone since he also can't coach a modern offense and fails in both aspects. Frye I'm on the fence on with coaching, but he is a bad recruiter. Bailey I am good with. Locklyn I am neutral on right now since he is new. There has to be a change from the top and then down, or we're going to waste the talent we have brought in.

I don't doubt that some Walmart type who jumped on the wagon during the Urban years verbally harassed Day's wife at a grocery store.
