HC Ryan Day (2019 B1G Media COY)

Thought he coached fine today. Sometimes you just lose. The only play I'd really question is running out the clock to try a 52 yarder.
Just imo, as I only watched a few buckeye games this year, I think he abandoned the run too soon after TTUN scored to go ahead 24-17.

On the tying drive Ohio State ran the ball at will. Defense gives up a score and the next drive he runs once and then calls two pass plays that went incomplete (or didn’t convert the first down at least). Defense gave up a field goal and it was a 10 point game. Good effort to get it down to the last possession but the game slipped away there imo.

Now if he called 3 run plays and got stuffed for a 3 and out I guess you can say he’d be equally criticized but the offense picked up some juice from that 5 min drive of tressel ball and I thought they should have continued what was working.

For everybody saying Day isn’t the answer, who is then? Outside of Smart and Saban, who would be able to do better?
This is the problem. I don't have an answer to that question. There's nobody I can point to and say "go get THAT guy." The two that spring to mind are Vrabel and Fick because you know they would GET the importance of The Game and it wouldn't be too big for them...which I think is Day's problem. But, Vrabel has been in the NFL for a decade and is Fick the guy to beat scUM and do all the other things?

We were insanely spoiled with Jim Tressel and Urban Meyer and that's a problem, expectations-wise.

I think at minimum Day needs to hire an OC that pushes his offensive concepts. This offense has gotten stale and the run concepts have alot to be desired. I also think a dual threat QB even if he had passing qualities of McCord gives you more options and ability to go run heavy if the pass game isn't working.

Day has had a good run of having the QBs to execute what he wants, I think McCord just isn't that level. Still I think the run game has been lacking for years. I would give up some of our depth at WR for a star RB and more run concepts.

I tried to give the benefit of the doubt here. I thought maybe it was the cheating. I let people here make me question my conviction of what was very clear to me.

No more.

"Big Game" Ryan Day isn't the answer folks. Anyone who still wants to believe knock your self the fuck out.

Similar thoughts here. After what we learned about the last two years, a win today would've definitely changed my perspective.

Not only was it a loss, but the way it happened:

Stalions wasn't there,
Hairball wasn't there,
Brutal interception (I don't care who anyone wants to blame, the play wasn't executed properly. It's his offense.)
Questionable clock management late in each half,
After having ran it down their throats the previous drive, came out run-pass-pass-punt the next one and TCUN went up two scores.
Day doesn't coach defense but he coaches the guy who runs the defense. They had no answers in the second half, again.

Hairball builds his teams to win this game. He lived it as a player and he gets it. Cooper never got it, Tressel and Urban (two Ohio boys) definitely did, but Day's focus seems beyond it. The problem with that is you rarely get a chance at beyond if you lose this one. Last year was an exception.

As you said, next year the landscape changes completely. The Game won't have the same all or nothing pressure, but you still better win it. It's called The Game for a reason. I'm not sure Day is ever going to get it.

I would say if Day can't beat whatever shitshow team that SCUM rolls into the Shoe next year he's gone.

SCUM will be a dumpster fire and coming in with 4 plus loses next year.

said a lot of people the past 2 years

Once the bar is set lower (expanded playoff, "yeah! we're good again!!"
