Today's game is a good thing!
Lot's of bad things on tape to correct.
The 1996 team was really dominant the first four games: Beat Rice 70-7, Pitt 72-0, ND (at ND) 29-16, and Ped State 38-7. Then went to Damp Cramhole and won a 17-14 slugfest in week 5 and scored a whopping nine points in The Game.2016 was the last time they were this dominant this early but the offense clearly had a low ceiling. 2010 looked dominant early too but not quite as high of a ceiling. I guess 98 or 96
Honestly I haven't seen this before. I told my dad after the UC game that this is the most dominant team I've ever seen in the S&G.Had to think about where to put this; I guess this will do...
Serious question for the board.
What Buckeye team(s) have you ever seen that:
I’ve been watching the Buckeyes for over 50 years. I can’t think of a single team that meets both criteria.
- Were THIS dominant THIS early, AND
- Were still as far from their potential as the 2019 Buckeyes are right now
There have been a fair few teams that were dominant early over the years. There have been a fair few that had a lot of room under their ceiling this early. Has any team you’ve seen checked both boxes the way this one does?

It’s hard to tell if they just didn’t hit their ceiling, but I’ve always thought of 96 as a team that peaked early. I think they started out pretty close to their ceiling, but who knows? Same with 98 for me; one of the best teams ever, Germaine had already had enough experience to be pretty close to his ceiling right out of the gate iirc.
See it’s hard to say because we aren’t playing a large OOC opponent this year for a change. They’ve certainly been very impressive defensively; there’s no arguing that sans the second half of FAU.
I’m not sold on being able to throw the ball well consistently against formidable secondaries so the only way to gauge that will be to play better teams. The answers are coming soon.
The Sparty game imo is going to tell us a lot about where this offense is. If we somehow put 400-500 yards and 30+ on Sparty's defense, I think we can confidently call the offense elite. Sparty's defense is a good as their offense is bad.See it’s hard to say because we aren’t playing a large OOC opponent this year for a change.
