HC Ryan Day (2019 B1G Media COY)

I’m probably in the minority but I love the idea.
It can stop the negative recruiters in their tracks for one. Then you have a young, talented, charismatic coach replacing another older coach with a continuation of the the system without any hiccups.
I, for one, believe Day is more than capable. Give him 3 more years under Urban and all is well

Small sample size but I sure feel like it's a mistake not locking down a transition path early. Best laid plans and such. Especially when you have a younger coach like Day who steps in and has this team mentally ready to go given the outside distractions and media. I don't think we heard a single peep from any one player that would have embarrassed the team and University.

Devils advocate; that is mostly due to the culture, and level of talent in that culture, built by Meyer and Mickey Mariotti.

Winning 3 games, and let's face it only one was ever in doubt, with what is perhaps Urban's most deep and talented team, is not the no-brianer slam dunk indicator of greatness some are wanting to make it out to be.

I love Day and think he's one hell of a good OC but we all thought the same of Herman at one point and if he had to fill in for Urban at the beginning of 2015 he would have been 3-0 as well.

I think Buckeye Nation should pump the brakes on Day's election to HOF. We have an actual HOF coach now with a lot of miles left on the tires.

Meyer found Day. He found Herman. He can find more.

I think there’s a decent chance Wasserman is being his typical jackass self and running with speculation from an influential person.

We all saw the huge pay increase and promotion Day got this year. Obviously Meyer wants to keep him around.

We all saw how pissed Meyer was at the press conference and speculation about him being disgruntled is rampant.

We all saw that Ryan Day won three games as the head coach.

Combine those three things and the speculation about coach in waiting is obvious.

Whether it’s actually true or not... or how serious any discussions are... or the exact nature of any discussions is undetermined. And I have less than zero faith that Wasserman has the ability to accurately find out or relay that information.

But hey, he got his click bait headline.
Interesting Wasserman now works for the same company as McMurphy

OHIO STATE NOTEBOOK: HOW TO REPEAT OFFENSIVE LINE PERFORMANCE, RYAN DAY ADDRESSES COACHING RUMORS AND K.J. HILL'S JACKET

RYAN DAY ADDRESSES JOB RUMORS

Ryan Day nearly didn't made it to Year 2 at Ohio State. An SEC school, which has widely been reported as Mississippi State, offered him a job as head coach in the fall, Urban Meyer said. Day, however, declined the offer.

Little did he know, even though he opted to remain at Ohio State, the next game he coached would be as a head coach. Day served as the Buckeyes’ acting head coach for the first three games of the season while Urban Meyer served a three-game suspension. Ohio State won all three games.

Recently, though, Day’s name resurfaced as a candidate for head coaching jobs at other schools. Some thought he might have a shot at the USC job had Clay Helton not been retained, and he was linked to the North Carolina opening that has since been filled by Mack Brown.

Day, though, deflected a question about job rumors on Tuesday, choosing to turn the focus of his answer to Ohio State.

“I don't read any of that stuff,” Day said. “I just know that any time you have opportunities, it's because of the guys around you, but more important than that, this is all about winning this championship. “I'm so proud of the way these guys came out and played last week after everything we've been through this year. Nothing would be better than to go win this thing here and really play well in this championship game because the way they came out and finished the season, in terms of the regular season with a game like that, really speaks to who these kids are. Couldn't be prouder.”

Day signed a three-year contract after last season and makes $1.5 million, but if the right head coaching opening pops up, it wouldn’t be a major surprise if he opted to take the next step in his career. He stayed on Meyer’s staff for a second season, but Day’s offensive acumen and his experience stepping in for Meyer early this season make him an attractive head coaching candidate.

Head Coach Ryan Day.
At the end of it all, I did not want to see Urban go this way, but I’m not scared about this hire at all. He’s been groomed for this and there’s no reason he can’t be the young Lincoln Riley/Sean McVay.*

Handled himself very well in front of the media and the players love him.

Keep the experienced staff around him (Wilson, Schiano/Johnson) and let’s roll.

*I’m also an irrational Buckeye fan and will always believe/talk myself into the best. Go Bucks
