HBO/Showtime Original Series

The first season of The Wire was really fuckin good. I've only seen the first two episodes of S2, and wasn't impressed.

Curb Your Enthusiasm is the best show ever (tied with Arrested Development).

I never watched Curb Your Enthusiasm. It was probably on while I had HBO, but I never got around to watching it. I tried to watch Arrested Development after everyone was raving about it, but couldn't get into it.

Curb is another great one... especially when they add JB Smoove to the show...

Season 2 (IIRC that was the season with the dockworkers and all their union stuff) was kind of down by The Wire standards, but seasons 3 & 4 came back to outdo season 1 and make up some of the best TV programming ever (!!!11!!)

McNulty, Bunk, Freamon and Daniel manning the wires; Avon, Stringer, D'Angelo, OMAR, Prop Joe and Brother Mouzone on the streets: these are some of the best-written and -acted TV characters I've ever watched.

I tend to watch a good deal of Dexter lately, and have seen a couple of others that are interesting in general but not ones that would be really that entertaining for me. Also, Hi all, I'm new and oddly this is the first thread that caught my eye.

The only shows I've tried to watch and couldn't get into were Deadwood, The Wire, and Generation Kill.

If you only watched the first few episodes of The Wire, I could understand not getting into it. The first few episodes of the first season build everything that happens in the next five seasons. It is simply the finest show ever made. I would give the entire first season a chance if I were you. If your mind isn't made up after that, fair enough.
