Hawaii Football: Offensive Juggernaut? Let's Discuss...

yeah they never score

I've watched every Hawaii home game over the last five years, along with a lot of their away games. They do very well against shit-to-mediocre defenses, especially at home. Put them against a decent-to-solid defense, especially on the road, and they ain't shit:

2003:
16 points (Tulsa)
13 points (San Jose State)
14 points (Nevada)

2004:
28 points (Florida Atlantic, I-AA team, UH lost the game)
3 points (Boise State)
14 points (Fresno State)

2005:
17 points (USC)
14 points (Michigan State)
14 points (Louisiana Tech)
13 points (Fresno State)

That's why Chang holds the record for most passing yards, and Brennan is going to break it. They never put up much offense.

Dude, I'm not going to argue with you on this, because you know jack shit about Hawaii except press clippings...jack shit. Like I said before, I've seen--and let me emphasize this so you can understand--every fucking Hawaii home game in the last five years and most of the road games. Timmy Chang was a token boy here in Hawaii...he was purely--purely--a system quarterback whose statistics were completely inflated by Hawaii's pass-dominated run and shoot offense. You've seen how successful he's been in the NFL? When he's on, he's a solild passer. When he's off, I myself can fucking throw better than him. By the way, not only does Chang hold the record for most career passing yards, but also the most career interceptions (77). He was benched for a couple games for poor performance.

Oh yeah, if Colt Brennan is going to break Chang's passing yardage record of 17,072 yards, he had better throw for 12,772 yards in the next two seasons (6,386 yards per season), seeing as he's going to be a junior this season and has 4,301 career yards. Somehow I doubt he'll average 532 yards passing per game.

Hawaii did have a potent offense--depending on who they were playing--for a few seasons, but they ain't no Texas Tech. There are three folks on this board with whom you shouldn't be bumping heads about Hawaii football: HAYN, 808, and me.

Like I give a fuck. Hawaii always has a great offense. I don't care if it's the system or if teams just let them get 8000 yards per game, they have offense. I never said they were any good. I SAID THEY HAVE OFFENSE.

Argue it till you're blue in the face, Colt Brennan just threw another TD.

what exactly is your argument here? As mili pointed out above, they often do not have much offense when they are actually challenged.

Last time, Einstein. They don't "always" have a great offense, and often get shut down. Like 19 points against Alabama and 20 against Cincinnati in 2002 in addition to the games I mentioned earlier. The reason why they look like an offensive juggernaught many times is because June Jones kept his first string offense in the whole fucking game even when up by four TDs to roll up the stats, not to mention they play in the fuckin Mountain West Conference. Oh yeah, 29 points against 3-8 Rice, and 20 points against a UTEP defense that gave up less than 20 points in only two games that entire year is real impressive. :roll1:

You have Colt Brennan on your X-Box? That's the only way he's throwing TDs right now...

I guess I will jump in this convo.

Yes Chang(Or Chong, whatever his name is) does hold the record for passing yards. But doesn't he also hold the record for INT's? Any QB can throw the ball up every play(Hawaii's Stradegy) and have every other passed picked off. But a GOOD QB will be able to throw for many yards and TDs without all of the picks he has thrown. I should ask, what NFL team is he playing for?

Nice rewording of Mili's points in post #5. :tongue2:

Tim Chang is currently competing for a spot with the Eagles. Just finished his NFL Europe season. As a side note, the word is strategy.

OK, time to dig this bad boy back up.

Colt Brennan progressed into a top-notch QB last year, albeit most of his competition wasn't of the highest caliber. With the June Jones "throw until they puke" offensive scheme, and all of Hawaii's top WRs returning along with Brennan, look for some really ridiculous passing stats this season. Don't be surprised if Brennen throws for 6,000+ yards and 60+ TDs...
