have you guys ever taken protein shakes?

What?!? Not being the board police but why is this not in the open discussion board. Taking protein to be like Ted Ginn? What?!

Wow where to begin... the best tasting protein in my opinion is Optimum Nutrution Whey Chocote flavor.

Good luck with your goals?!?

I've personally never tried one, but I have given the Mrs. a Protein "Slurpy" from time to time, usually when the "monthly bill" comes due. She does have a tendency to gag, but always gives a big smile afterward.

The best tasting stuff is by Champion Nutrition. I really like both their chocolate and their strawberry flavors...either it's good stuff or I'm a freak (always possible).

It's good with both milk and water, though my preference is just mixing it with water.

The best tasting ones I have found are the shakes by Optimum Nutrition...if you mix it in a blender with some skim milk and a little ice it almost actually tastes like a milkshake.

I drink the GNC (General Nutrition Center) brand of "Whey Protein" in the chocolate flavor. I personally think it tastes good and i just mix it with plain water and nothing else. Ive been bringing a bottle with some of the powder and filling it up with fountain water everyday while i lift weights, and i gained 20-22 pounds from lifting weights within 4 months, leading up to my football season.

Make sure though that you eat a pretty decent diet anyway, and also have some cardio to keep your metabolism up and fat off. Also, make sure you lift weights ROUTINELY and alternate days between leg workouts, and then upper body workouts. Alot of people try to overdo it and bench press everyday, but in reality it actually is counter-productive because your muscles need time to rest in order to grow.

Go to any health/nutrition store (i go to GNC) and talk to any of the employees there, because they will be able to give you good information on not only their products they can sell you, but also how to use them and how to achieve whatever goals you may have.

Get a big bowl: 3 or 4 quarts.

8 oz of a protein supplement
2 quarts of whole milk
2 eggs
4 tbsp peanut butter
Pint of your favorite ice cream.
4 tbsp malted milk powder
6 tbsp honey
one banana, preferably two.

Mix it up and keep it in the refrigerator. It makes about a dozen servings that are taken throughout the day. Take one right before bed time.

200 grams of protein and 4136 calories

If you are not lifting...and lifting right...you will get fat rather quickly. So don't mess with this unless you are on a good program which is intended to stimulate strong muscle growth.

Brutusbabe is so right, it takes a lot of work to build muscle and retain your speed all while keeping your BF% in check.

There is no supplement that is going to give you muscle. You still have to put in the work. Not even drinking tons amount of whey will do this for you. Try to get 1 gram of protein for evey pound of lean body mass you have. Use your whey protein along with a high GI carb as youe post workout shake. Get most of your nutrionts from whole foods and use the Whey as a supplement.

Honestly, it is worth educating yourself on. How to eat proper when to take certain foods etc. Since it the off-season of football it sounds like you are looking to bulk. When in order to pack on muscle you are going to need to eat. Plain and simple, but make sure you are bulking on clean food and not just a bunch of shit.

Good luck, if you are interested I have a ton of links I could forward you.

I used to use that stuff till I noticed how much cholesterol is in it and stopped. If I remember correctly, practically a full day's allocation is in one serving. :yow1:

My brother used to take that stuff but his dictor told him to quit b/c they thought it was messing up his thyroid gland.

He ended up having have half of his thyroid removed.:(

The human body isn't made to ingest that much protein in a day.
