I was 10 yrs old and got my first knee surgery. A kid slid home and since I was tall for my age the shin guards never covered my whole knee and he nailed my left knee. A couple months later my mom flipped out as she noticed I had a bump the size of a golf ball on the side of my knee. Found out that "something" cracked part of my knee cap and started leaking cartlidge creating a new bone on the side of my knee.

The resulting surgery left me 10 stiches about 5 inches long on the side of my knee. Drove my mom insane as the stiches were big enough that I have alot of dead nerve skin as I would jam and scratch myself as a trick to show other kids while I was a teenager.

Oh yeah too many to list. Sticthes, staples, strips and glue. Not just when I was a kid. I few years ago I sheared off the knuckle on my little finger and had to have the flap stitched back on.

I had stitches in my eyebrow one year and took them out myself.

My youngest daughter has carried on the tradition.

i got stitches above my left eye when i was around 10 or so after a nasty bike wreck. i got a concussion out of that wreck as well.

i got my right index finger stitched back together after i stuck it in an restaurant meat slicer when i was 20. that was gnarly. bones are very white.

as for broken bones, up until i was 23, i'd never broken any bones except for my little brother's arm when i was 9. but then i broke my pinky toe while screwing around at work. what a pain that was. my foot turned all black and green and purple, and i couldn't walk right for a month...

Stitches, staples, and glue. Staples in the head twice for injuries in basketball games, stitches from an assortment of injuries, and glue for a recent deep cut (surprised me but it worked really well).

My favorite is staples in the head when I caught a pass for the winning touchdown in a game of street ball. I was copying a Paul Warfield layout and discovered that the brick wall at a neighbors driveway was a bit steadier than wolverweenie safeties. Why the favorite? It knocked me out cold all the way to Riverside Methodist but I held the ball all the way there too!

I've had stitches in my head twice.(Don't ask) The best has been the thumb in the table saw. LOTS of stitches and a pin through the end of the thumb for healing straight. Don't think it can't happen. It can!

Three times, but very minor stuff... doctors thought I could do without some odd freckles which turned out to be fine. One was on my wrist, and back when the scar was still red and showed the stitch marks, there was a girl at my high school who was very impressed that I had carved a butterfly into my skin. Kinda scary.

My athletic (or no-so-athletic) mishaps tend to be more along the lines of sprained ankles and knocking my front teeth out.

4 major surgeries closed with various methods, stitches and staples.

sliced my finger open clear to the bone, many internal sutures to reattach nerves and tendons done under a microscope, very cool... 12 external stitches to close my finger...

my 8yr old has had stitches once, HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE! experience... as for my 4 yr old, I've glued a head lac and chin lac, no stitches so far.

Yup, twice.
Split my head open when I was ~2 and I cut my finger open a couple of years ago.

I also sliced my hand last year, should have gotten stitches but decided not too.
I have had many other gushing wounds in my young days, but I dont like going to the ER, so the cut has to be really bad :)

I've had stitches more times than I can remember.
I'm with you. There is no way I could remember everytime I've been sewn back up.

The worst was probably my first. 40 stitches when I was 18 months old. All in my face/head. Went down a steep driveway on an Inchworm. Front wheels stopped at the gutter. I didn't. Face plant on the street at about 10 miles an hour. Actually had to sew my tongue back on. I had bit more than 3/4 of the way through it.
