A thread for the team that I despise more than any other team in the history of team sports?!!? Any minute now I will awaken in a sweat and realize that it was only a terrible, horrible nightmare and no such thread really exists.

Oh, here we go again... OK folks, let's 'splain this soes we don't have to go over it again every frickin' year.
See, Ohio State is this public university, playing in a league with ten other public universities and a private school. When Ohio State does well, Ohio State and the league benefits. When the league does well, the league and Ohio State benefits. When Michigan does well, Michigan, the league AND (get this cause it's real fuckin important... ) Ohio State benefits.
When Notre Dame does well (likewise get this cause it's real fuckin important) nobody but Notre Dame benefits.
Now I hope we ain't going to need no fuckin' remediation classes on this very crucial bit of knowledge.
Sorry bro, but that still doesn't give a Buckeye fan any right whatsoever to dislike any team more than scUM.
So, as I stated earlier, you dislike ND more than scUM???

technically speaking penn state is a private school which gets state money, but it is still technically a private inst. so it would be 2 private school sin the big tencincibuck said:Oh, here we go again... OK folks, let's 'splain this soes we don't have to go over it again every frickin' year.

Let's see... I think the last time I rooted for ND was when they played University of Miami... but it may have been when they scheduled the Buchenwald Prison Guards. Does that clarify how I feel about Notre Dame?
And answer me this, if Michigan goes 4 and 6 over the next several years whose program is going to be the all time winningist? Notre Dame. And how does that benefit Ohio State? And if Michigan goes 4 - 6 for say six or seven years, how does that keep The Game The Game? And if the season opens with ND beating Michigan how does that benefit us, or the Big 10?
My God, why not make Indiana our big rivalry? They're right next door where you can rattle their chain, they don't win squat, we can pack THEIR stadium. We can go 20 - 30 years between losses... Boy, that's a real achievement.
PS, sorry about all this and the tone and all that shit. It's not completely your fault. I've been dueling with Tibor and that will raise anybody's BP. I think I need a couple of Midols or a large scotch.
Wow. Do I have to graph this? See, The Game is The Game because OSU and Michigan are great teams with a long tradition, blah, blah, blah. But when one or the other losses, especially when they lose to a team like Notre Dame, The Game starts to become 'the game.' Now I know that's subtle... so, let's think about things like rankings, bowl games, press. Now tell me one way in which a Notre Dame win against Michigan improves our end of the year rankings, bowl game, press? Got it? Just one stinkin' way. Can't do it can you? My point exactly. You obviously don't (get, sic)the meaning of "The Big Game"... The game is so special because it always means something and it had so much history.
No shit? Wow. Why do you think that is? And why do you think it is that Indiana isn't The Game? Could it be that Indiana sucks? The Game means so much because Michigan is a tough team, with a long, proud tradition... and it doesn't hurt that a tiny bit of Michigan is right next door. While you're at it look up sarcasm.A rivalry doesn't mean how close the schools are from each other, its what is on the line constantly, and for a true OSU fan, if you lose that game to scUM, its considered an unsuccessful year.
And how does that improve the quality of The Game? I'm not asking you to love Michigan... I don't love Michigan, but I have enough sense to know that what is good for the league, and hence, for Ohio State, is wins over Notre Dame from Michigan, Purdue and Michigan State and what's bad for the league, and hence for Ohio State, is if Michigan, Purdue or Michigan State lose to Notre Dame. It hurts in the polls, the bowl selections, the media and in the importance of The Game.To tell the truth, i hate ND as well, but they will never compare to the hate I have for Michigan.
