Has a team ever won with field goals, while the other scores at least one touchdown?

I'm doing this in the hopes you are a very young kid and don't know any better.

1974 OSU 12 scUM 10. All OSU scoring courtesy of our FG kicker Tom Klaban.

I'm sure there are literally thousands more.

This is the first time I ever saw this thread. Thought it was funny as hell that Milwood made the first response and then this one, which was the game that immediately came to mind. I'm not gonna read any more post in this thread, because, well, YOU know.

Peace.

My favorite game meeting the requirements is still:
Article: Kicker Graham basks in aftermath of record feat ; His seven field goals in Sunday's win brings smiles to Bengal teammates, fans.

Article from:biggrin:ayton Daily News Article date:November 13, 2007http://www.highbeam.com/Common/Controls/#Copyright 2007 Dayton Daily News. Provided by ProQuest LLC. (Hide copyright information) CINCINNATI -- And you thought Shayne Graham's right foot worked hard on Sunday. Well, his cell phone and computer worked even harder -- overtime and overnight.
After giving Baltimore the boot with a Bengals' single-game record seven field goals in Cincinnati's 21-7 victory, Graham got a kick out of the fans' reaction.
"Between all the phone calls and text messages, people were congratulating me and thanking me for the fantasy league points," Graham said on Monday. "Some of the e-mails I got were kind of fun.
"No one told me they traded me (in fantasy leagues). It's been a couple weeks since we've had any field goals, so I guess if they were patient, it paid off for them."

Someone should put one of those witty poster thingys together that people post in threads a lot...you know, with a witty line "Sometimes...they win with only field goals" or something.

Heres one for the researchers/stat heads

Has a team ever won scoring only safeties when the other team has scored a touchdown? (or even just a field goal/field goals for that matter) from just sort of off handing looking it doesn't appear to have happened in the NFL or Division 1 football (FBS or FCS). Would be interesting to find out if it's ever happened at lower levels (be it college or high school)

If not what kind of odds do we have on Iowa pulling it off this weekend

While we're having people do research, can anyone find out if a team at any level has started players named Sam, Mike and Will at the Sam, Mike and Will LB spots? It doesn't count if they're switched up, like Sam at the Will and Will at the Sam. Thanks!

Not that I can think of off the top of my head, but this one was awfully close:

"It was a pretty obvious decision," Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz said. "Typically, if you punt off your own 1-yard line, it's almost a guaranteed three for the other team. And this type of game, I sure as heck didn't want to give them three easy ones. Just take the safety and ride our defense."

WTF kind of logic is that? So you give them 2 points to make it a 2 point game and they get the ball without losing anything off the clock. You punt, they run some clock and score 3 to make it a 1 point game and you get the ball back and run some more clock.

I believe it's the decision between giving them the ball around your 40 on the punt or their 20 after the free kick. He neglected to mention the obvious worry of having the punt blocked with the formation compressed, which would've given PSU a TD.

I move that every year for one week, specifically the week of the State Penn game, this thread be a sticky thread so that we can all remember the joy that PennState1985 brought to us via his supreme idiocy. For my own amusement, I use PennState1985 as my platonic ideal of a State Penn fan.

Yeah, well, you make the free kick and they move it just enough to kick a FG and you lose and look like an idiot. Ferentz lucked out his D held on that day. I could see the logic with a 6 point lead, but not 4 (other than preventing a low probability punt block).
