Goodyear Outlines Plans to Continue Turnaround by Eliminating Internship Program.
#23189fi.905

NEW YORK, Sept. 23, 2005 – Robert J. Keegan, chairman and chief executive officer of The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, will discuss plans to continue the tiremaker’s business turnaround today.
The company plans involve evaluating whether the future of its internship program is worthwhile. One intern, in particular, located at the Akron, Ohio facility, cost the company more than $600,000 by spending his work-time at an Ohio State fan forum, www.BuckeyePlanet.com. When asked about his time spent, this intern replied, "Giggity-giggity-giggity-goo!"
"We successfully achieved many of the goals we set three years ago and look to further improve our performance as we move to the next stage of our turnaround," said Keegan. He and other Goodyear leaders will speak at an investor meeting at the Marriott Marquis here today. They will discuss plans to better supervise company time of interns across the nation within multiple facilities.
Over the next three years, Goodyear anticipates incurring cash restructuring charges of approximately $150 million to $250 million to reduce its high-cost internship program by eliminating all future intern positions, terminating current intern positions, and suing all former interns who may have wasted their time by putzing around on the internet.

Happy Birthday.

Yo GD01, where on campus are you at? If you aren't making the hike up to State College, we're having a Penn State game party at our place.

Plenty of booze, food, women, etc. etc. PM me if you're interested.

Edit: oh yeah, happy birthday man!
Thanks buddy. I don't mind if my location becomes public knowledge...Indianola and Oakland.

Not sure about the game yet...might be going to Hall of Fame Cafe, but I appreciate the offer and will send you a PM if I think i'll take you up on it
