I had a rather sophisticated self replicating worm that was found and killed by the free sbybot program. Thing is, when I first ran spybot, the computer just seemed to "freeze" for awhile, although it was not acutally in a "not responding" mode. I did not give enough time to kill it before I got impatient and quit the program. Then I tried it again, and got called away from the puter for an hour, and when I came back it had removed it.

I had the same type of problem a couple months ago...I had to actually make my computer go back to the way it was when I very first got it, by holding f11 or something like that when you first turn your computer on...

I went in and turned system restore off, then did a full scan with Avast. When I was done I went in and manually deleted the file. But when I was done I ran Spyware protection to see if anything else was in there. then when I was done I rebooted the computer then turned system restore back on.
