Posting this now in case anyone wants to try it for this Halloween. This was my son's Halloween costume a couple of years ago. I've made a couple more since then for various friends. Everyone seems to enjoy them and my son still has his hanging in his room.

Brutus from start to finish:

Start with large children's kickball.

Paper mache it. (four to five layers)

First we spray painted the entire thing dark brown and then cut out an oval from a newspaper and tried to make the face lighter mixing brown and white.

Added the facial features... ...and a hat...
...and a kid.
