If I go to a page (like this one), and then hit back button to back out of the page, I get redirected back into the page faster than I can hit the back button. And the IP doesn't resolve using nslookup (DOS command). Whenever you see a website that uses an IP in its URL instead of a domain name, and that IP doesn't resolve, then something is very fishy...

try going back to the last page not connected to the site where this is occuring. I have had that happen before, and othertimes you just have to soft reboot .

FWIW - I just observed the same thing this evening. That 83.yada.yada.yada started loading some RealPlayer file then an error message came up that a database was corrupted.

Updating my SpyBot and AdAware definitions now to get ready for the scan...

Sometimes this is a trick programmers use to get you to look at a page. They use a flashover link that works simply by your cursor passing over the link, you do not have to click on it. They will put several of them in the most advantageous positions so that when you try to close a window your cursor trips the link just before you get to the X and some are even built into the X so that when you click on it you actually trigger the link and just refresh the page instead of closing it.

I didn't have the problem with not being able to back out of a page or close it, only that the 83.xxxx website was trying to load something earlier this evening. Since then I have rebooted and am now running a Spybot check.

Right now I am not seeing it come up. I'll let you all know if I see it again.

It might be a red herring - but, there was serious jerkiness in the pages viewed earlier today ...

viewing with IE.

Got home - launched FireFox.

Nil Problemo.

(And the IE sessions are behind a very well maintained firewall - with excellent Virus protection - could be something trying to get a dig that depends on IE, plus a less than complete cloak?)

Ok, my bad.. Just made it sound like IE was safer and more sophisticated... Although the downloads for Firefox are AWESOME! Love the customizable layouts, tabs, mouse navigation (right click+left=go back)... Pretty cool stuff if you ask me.
