Greg Paulus (HC Niagara University)

You can bet his confidence took a hit and that his trust for RR is lower. A lesson RR appears to need to learn...

Honesty and truthfulness: It's your friend in the long-term.
Forcier was recruited with the understanding that he'd be competing not only with two QB's with starting experience, but at least one other highly-recruited freshman too. Didn't stop him from being pretty cocky. I think you guys are reading into this what you want to read into it, which is whatever it takes to make RR look as bad as possible. Coaches don't consult with their players as to who to offer....and I think the only person who was saying Paulus had a scholarship offer was Greg Paulus - or whoever was writing headlines and interpreted "I have an opportunity" to mean "I've been offered a scholarship." Paulus came in and had one meeting with the coaches and the media went HOLY GOD LOOK AT THAT - what obligation does RR have to inform the players of every meeting with a recruit?

And I think you're looking at it a bit too optimistically. These two QBs with starting experience are the same two that everybody and their mom knew were place holders for the next best thing. The other frosh committed AFTER he was already on board. Nice picture you've painted, though.

You very well may be right about our leaning towards negativity concerning all things rr (hello again Captain Obvious), but reading Taters words it sure looked to me like he was trying to convince himself that he could trust the coaches and that they were being forthright with him. Either way it's just another episode in "as the stomach turns"

:slappy: Please tell me you didn't try and spin Threet & Sheridan into something other than liabilities.
but at least one other highly-recruited freshman too.
Who wouldn't get any coaching until August.
Didn't stop him from being pretty cocky.
I fail to see what this proves, other than Tate is a cocky kid.

Many of your own had a very similar reaction, and the article response is being sold as going to bat for his brother. He clearly cared about it.

This was a neat little PR move to make this about official scholarships, when that was secondary to whether Paulus was being brought in (a kid the coaches - not counting RR - said they didn't know, per Tate's quote).
Paulus came in and had one meeting with the coaches and the media went HOLY GOD LOOK AT THAT - what obligation does RR have to inform the players of every meeting with a recruit?
You're right, when you've been working on getting all three forcier brothers to Ann Arbor for a while now... it's not polite to mention that you might be bringing in another quarterback with more talent than both of his brothers.

Paulus likely headed to Syracuse, not Michigan - Big Ten - ESPN

The Greg Paulus to Michigan story seemed to die not long after it spawned, and it's likely the former Duke point guard will play quarterback for his hometown Syracuse Orange, according to ESPN.com's Joe Schad.
Paulus visited Michigan's final practice of the spring April 14 and said he received an opportunity to join the team, but it never seemed like the Wolverines were really interested in adding the former high school All-American. A lot of folks noted how Paulus was a win-win prospect for Michigan -- a bonus if he plays, only there for one year if he doesn't -- and they might have been right. cont...

Syracuse names Paulus starting QB - Sporting News staff reports - College Football - Sporting News

Syracuse head coach Doug Marrone has picked Greg Paulus to be the Orange's starting quarterback.

SUAthletics.com, the official web site for the university's athletic department, is reporting that the former Duke point guard beat out sophomore Ryan Nassib, senior Cam Dantley and freshman Charley Loeb for the starting position. After exhausting four years of basketball eligibility with the Blue Devils, Paulus is using his fifth year of athletic eligibility as a graduate student.

Cam Dantley led the Cuse to a win at South Bend and this is his reward? Losing his job to a Duke PG? Too bad the Orange and Blue Devils don't hook up this year.

I think Paulus being named the starter after taking four years off from football says more about Syracuse's football program than Paulus's QB abilities.

Sad to see what's happened to that program.

Does this mean The Orangemen are willing to take a sack when a DE/LB/DT get within 2 feet of of their QB?

Sad state of affairs in Syracuse if so.

I think so. Paulus has shown he's more than willing to take a "sack"
