Bleed S & G

Taking Crazy Pills
Seriously?

One of DC Comics oldest heroes is super-coming out.

The original Green Lantern - a DC Comics mainstay for the past 70 years - will be revealed to be a gay man in next week's issue of "Earth 2."

Alan Scott - formerly a married father of two who first appeared in 1940 - tips readers off to his sexuality early on in the comic when he gives his boyfriend a welcome home kiss.

I feel bad for Ryan Reynolds, but I thought they made Batman gay 15 years ago when they made Batman & Robin. But seriously the only good thing DC has going is The Dark Knight Rises. After that they are pretty much done unless the new Superman movie is good, which it might since Christopher Nolan is attached to it. When I was a kid I always thought DC was bigger than Marvel, but ever since the X-Men movie came out Marvel has pummeled DC in everything that isn't Nolan.

Have you forgotten the Wonder Woman tv show in the last year or Shaq as Steel (wasn't that the movie?)? DC has done a terrible job in the last decade with their movies. The only good thing in the most recent Superman movie was when the guy tried to put a bullet in his eye. Otherwise the movie was awful.

Marvel has had their failures (Daredevil, Wolverine and FF), but overall has done a decent job. They seem to be stepping up their game with the Avengers related movies. Let's hope the Spiderman reboot follows the recent positive comic movies.

That's right I forgot when they made Superman gay. I didn't mind the 4 movies that you mentioned. I didn't think they were any worse than Thor or Captain America last year. None bad, but not great like the first Iron Man. The only real turds were Elektra and the first Hulk movie, but I think that's why they tried to make the Hulk more likable in the Avengers. After the Avengers I think they are going to need to step it up with the sequels for Thor and CA.

edit- It also had to chap DC's ass that Marvel put one of the better fits for Wonder Woman (Cobie Smulders) in the Avengers, but there is no way that WW can carry a movie or tv show at this point.

Superman's catch phrase was "Up, Up and Away!!"

Green Lantern's new catch phrase will be "Hey! Hey! Heeeeyyyyyy!"

He's gay, not Fat Albert . . .

Commenting on the thread more generally, "Alan Scott?" I always thought that Hal Jordan was the original. I guess I'm not old enough. At any rate, its a big who cares for me and is likely more a matter of marketing than political correctness.
