Greatest performance by a Buckeye in a losing effort?

The first thing that came to mind was Winfield in the '97 scUM game like you mentioned. The others:

Art Schlichter vs. FSU in 1981: OSU record passing yards
Cris Carter vs. USC in the 1985 Rose Bowl: Bowl record for receptions and yards.
Keith Byars vs. Purdue in 1984: don't remember the stats but I remember he dominated the game.
Art Schlichter vs. USC in the 1980 Rose Bowl: even though it wasn't a record, it was a great performance that kept us in the game.

barlow1802: "I cant bring myself to agree.. based soley on the fact that it is Bellisari."

But that's what makes that performance all the more great .. if you lined up all the Buckeye QBS in history, Stevie B. would definately be in the Top 20 of "Least Likely to bring you back from 28 points down late in the game."

Add on top of that his arrest & suspension a month earlier, and you can even drop that down a few notches further.

Ohio State overcame a lot of ghosts that day in a losing effort. Its amazing that Bellisari's best game (by far) was also his last game, on a day where OSU and himself were postmarked to mail it in.

In chronological order, these top my list:

'81 - Schlichter against FSU
'85 - Carter in the Rose Bowl after the '84 season
'86 - Spielman's 29 tackles against scUM
'97 - Germaine against Penn St.
'05 - Hawk against Texas
