I think a lot of current music sucks, and the good artists are all on drugs and trying to die, but I'll take a kid who's got one eye covered in bangs while listening to "fall out boy" over some kid who's drugged out, listening to 21'st century disco, any day of the week.

:slappy: Get the fuck outta here. None of these acts will be on the air in five years. I'm surprised you left out "One Republic".

The Rolling Stones and The Who still fucking rock after four-plus decades, and The Eagles and Aerosmith for three and a half decades. Play a hit from either of these bands and even kids in middle school today will know the song or will have at least heard of it.

21st century Disco?

Mili, you'll be singing a different tune when Fall Out Boy is playing the South Dakota state fair and Indian casinos in 20 years

Its all relative

It is all subjective based on taste. I love music from the 50', 60's. 70's. 80's and 90's. Much of the music today is wasted on my taste. There are exceptions to that. I am very funny, in that, there is a difference to me between music and noise. I am sure that my parents felt much the same. Again, it is subjective. I have been called a racist before because I do not care much for what is now termed "hip-hop". Perhaps, it is because I grew up in a different era with different expectations for music. I do, however, really love music by artists such as Smokey Robinson, Jimi Hendrix, The Supremes, etc. Was there ever a better voice than Nat King Cole? Don't scoff young ones. Take a listen and see.

So, to answer that question or any about different eras, you must compare that era based on that era. A perfect example is Jack Nicklaus vs. Tiger Woods. They both were the best in their eras. Different equipment, different concepts of training, the courses have been changed, the grass itself has changed. Another argument is Babe Ruth and Barry Bonds. You must compare them based on the eras not the numbers alone.
All of the above were great champions in their eras.

First I would like to apologize to daytonbuck, i tried to ding you... luckily i used all my rep for the day... i only read up to goodcharlotte, coughed and thought you were actually serious... then got mad i couldnt ding you... saw your post quoted several times and read the whole thing, i saw hillary duff and realized now human being could make that post seriously. So I am sorry.

Second, whoever gave credit to the 80's for NIN, go to hell.

Third, the 90's were pretty damn good with bands like NIN, Tool, Rage, early Korn, Kurt Cobain, Tupac ect. I will still vote for the 60's based on a greater depth chart of superstars.

Fourth, the 80's sucked. If you disagree go listen to your abba, U2, reo speedwagon, the police, poison, white snake, Ratt... and no, the cure, and REM arent good enough to pull that decade out of the gutter.

Finally, if you are honestly looking for what the 00's have done for music you cant look at rock, MTV killed rock. Too much pandering to 12 year old girls has ruined an entire genre. Hip Hop and R&B are the only things growing now and if you are looking for deep, soulful lyrics. I am sorry. Songs you can dance and fuck to are what girls want to hear now and girls are the demographic that gets pandered to by the music industry so its what we've got. Dont get me wrong, I like some of the HipHop, especially when it gets me laid but there wont be anymore songs like the white rabbit or free bird popping up anytime soon.

I have spoken, that is all.

Interesting you add U2 and the Police to that list of horrible bands, the 80's was up and down. There was a lot of good music that changed a lot of musical concepts, bands like Metallica and Slayer changed the whole image of what Metal was, whereas bands like Bad Religion, Social Distortion and the Misfits took the traditional punk sounds of the Sex Pistols and the Ramones and brought them to another level.

Sure, there was a lot of suck ass music, AHA, Pet Shop Boys, etc... are bands everyone makes fun of now, but someone had to go buy those albums.

Third, the 90's were pretty damn good with bands like NIN, Tool, Rage, early Korn, Kurt Cobain, Tupac ect. I will still vote for the 60's based on a greater depth chart of superstars.

Heh, funny you mention these bands but don't mention bands like MC Hammer, Vanilla Ice, Crash Test Dummies, the Spice Girls, etc... there's a group of bad bands in every musical era that just plain suck, no excuses, yet they have one hit and somehow they are remembered, but you can't count the whole era on those bands.
