Voted for the 70s.

Zeppelin and Floyd seal the deal. For me, I cannot argue Floyd's output of Meddle, Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals, and The Wall from '71 - '79.

If posed the old question, "If you had to pick five albums to listen to for the rest of your life when faced with [insert catastrophe here]," I'd probably die in front of my CD shelf while deliberating which one or two of those five albums I'd have to pick.

I'd vote for 1978 to 1988 or so....instead of by decade it's more like by era....although really it should be something like 1975 to 1992-ish or so....

If going by greatest 10-year span, then I'd probably go with '68-'77.

Cut out some shit like Abba and the Bee Gees to include the Beatles at their peak (Sgt Peppers, Magical Mystery Tour, White Album, and Yellow Submarine). It's a win-win!

The 60s-70s is arguably the greatest period in American music because of the time of major upheaval. Great singers/song writers and poets.
People like Leonard Cohen. Like Bob Dylan and Joan Baez. Jimi Hendrix and Jim Morrison. Just to name a few. There are no modern singers song writers that can compare to those people.
