Greatest American actor, actress, and film director of last 50 years ? (MERGED)

Director: Stanley Kubrick. (Full Metal Jacket alone wins this)

Actor: Toss up (Sean Connery or Denzel Washington)

Actress: Toss up (Nicole Kidman or Drew Barrymore)

You'll laugh at the actresses and that's fine. But Drew's work in ET and Firestarter as a little kid were brilliant.

Best Actor: Without a doubt, Christopher Walken

Best Actress: This is much harder. Kathy Bates is excellent, it would be hard to top her. Jodie Foster and Cate Blanchett are both excellent actors as well, as are Hillary Swank and Halle Barry(sp?).

Best Director: It's a toss up between Scorsese or Tarantino

I was about to say Gary Oldman, but he's from London. Kevin Spacey is good and I like Ed Norton too. Tom Hanks has to be up there. Depp and Benicio get a nod and not just because I'm a HST guy. Jack Nicholson and DeNiro are my favorites though.

Director - Scorsese, Coppola, Kubrick top the list for me personally

Actress - Jolie just because I'm infatuated with her.

Director-Stanley Kubrick-he imprints his own style on any film he does. Scorsese is very close behind.

Actor-Robert DeNiro-no one commands the screen like he does. Pacino might scream and yell, and ham it up, but DeNiro can whisper and make a viewer feel chills or tears.

Actress-Kobe Tai!!!!!

I don't watch a lot of movies but Morgan Freeman has always been my favorite actor.

Mine too! I liked the movie Kiss The Girls with him! I like his voice! He also gets kudos for owning registered quarter horses!
Yep I got one haven't shoown since he tried to die on me! His colon flipped up on him & I rushed him 2 1/2 hours to Ohio State! They kept him in critical intensive care, 4 days then 5 days regular care & he's still here. He was there in 95' for a kick from a horse which got him a broken bone in his leg! All is well there too!

Kubrick (Nobody has mentioned Paths of Glory?), then Spielberg

DeNiro, with honorable mention to Dustin Hoffman, Gene Hackman, and Robert Duvall

Meryl Streep, because most of Katherine Hepburn's work was over 50 years ago.
