Ah, a place to vent:

:pissed:

A guy I share an office with is one of our salesmen...always on the phone, and says the following statement 50 frikin-kajillion times a day and it makes my ears bleed every time he does...

"...you can call me back @ ________ , but if I'm not in my office please LET a message and I'll return your call as soon as I can."

SERIOUSLY???

AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:mad1: :grr: :mad2: :so: :bonk: :ohwell:

your- used to indicate ownership
you're- contraction meaning you are

their- possesive of they, indicates ownership

Catch phrases in commercials currently running on TV:

"Water smart"

(one can't water smart because smart is an adjective and water is a verb in this case. Adjectives do not modify verbs. That's why we have adverbs - water smartly)

"Expect great"

(one cannot expect great because great is an adjective, not a noun. One can expect greatness, though)

Those are just 2 current examples of how we use adjectives for everything, even when they don't make sense. I swear I see it every day.

here's another that i catch people saying much more than writing

irregardless. THAT IS NOT A WORD

Used ironically, irregardless is particularly genious - irregardless of it's non-official status.

That being said, people answering questions with "yeah, no..." drives me crazy. Your answer cannot be both affirmative and negative. Pick a side!
