Google Earth "Street View"

(CNN) -- Google's ambitious plan to offer a 3-D street level view of communities across three continents hit a snag when angry residents of a UK village blocked the search engine's camera car from photographing their homes.

Broughton, can be seen from the air on Google Earth, but not from the ground.

Fearing the appearance of their well appointed properties on the Web site would attract criminals scouting for burglary targets, villagers in Broughton, north of London, summoned the police after spotting the car.
"I was upstairs when I spotted the camera car driving down the lane," resident Paul Jacobs told The Times of London.

Hell of a way to not attract attention, get an international news story going on your town.

Mmm, real time dynamic maps of the Earth. It seems nowadays that supervillainy just isn't as hard as it used to be. Back in the days of Hugo Drax, you had to be a filthy rich eccentric to ever get to spy on the whole world, whereas today all you need is Google Earth and some Georgia Institute of Technology students. Using motion capture data and the veritable litany of CCTV cameras people have surrounded themselves with, the team have succeeded in mapping and animating the real time movements of cars, people and clouds. A proper unveiling is coming up at a symposium next month, by which point they might have added weather patterns, birds and river motions to that list, but for now you can enjoy the video demo after the break.

http://betabeat.com/2012/09/google-street-view-camera-catches-kid-pointing-a-gun-at-it/

A Redditor published a screencap from a Google Maps street view camera today that shows a gaggle of young men and one woman hanging out on a front porch in Detroit. Innocent enough, except that one of the young men is holding what looks to be a shotgun. As the streetview camera drives off onto the next block, the kid aims the gun at the car.

Whoever said cartography wasn't a dangerous job has clearly never been to Detroit.

Okay, I have looked at this for a minute now. It is in the Netherlands and it looks like a guy on a pier of some sort with a trail of blood or shit. You have to tell me WTF this is. Haha

That's pretty much what is being said around the 'net.

For some reason no one seems to have noticed that it looks like there is a second drag trail and stain next to what appears to be a body. So two 'bodies' being dragged and disposed of?
