Goodbye Howard Stern...

His show has been crap for the last 6-7 years. I can't see people making the move to satellite just to get his show. He won't be missed in this market.... MJ in Tampa does a better show than Stern.

I'll miss him.

The reason his show has sucked is b/c of the FCC stranglehold.

I couldn't agree more. Finally the good old days of bathroom Olympics, the lesbian dating game, It's Just Wrong, and so much more can return. Screw the FCC, the religious kooks, and all of the jackasses who couldn't understand that if you don't like what you hear you can simply change the channel. I already have my Sirius unit, and it's so much better than the garbage on terrestrial radio.

Long live Howard, Fred, Artie, and Robin...and Ba Ba Boey to you all!

I think only a small number of those can be attributed to listening to Stern...Sirious is becoming more popular in general.

Crediting Stern for that is just inflating Sterns already universe sized ego.

I don't see how you can say that. Over a 2 million person jump has to be attributed to Stern. He has a very strong fan base that would follow him where ever he would go. Thats why SIRIUS took the chance on him, they knew it would greatly increase their subscriptin base

ok.... ummm howard stern can toss himself off something tall for all i care, but are you telling me the fcc has no say over how songs are played via sirius????? if thats the case ill buy one today!

That's correct. Since it's a product that you actually have to pay for, the FCC doesn't have any jurisdiction (I know that's an incredibly watered down explanation). Plus, there's no commercials (on the music channels at least). Both XM and Sirius are great services that have only begun to tap the market. I was planning on getting a satellite radio prior to Howard going to Sirius, and I can honestly say it's very, very cool.

I will be the first to tell Stern he can say what he wants and im the first to turn the channel...but the FCC has a job to do.

Using federally regulated air puts him under the authority of the FCC to follow a relatively understandable request to keep his language, subjects and bits to a certain decorum deemed acceptable to society. If you disagree with our society's standard in terms of decency, then fight the power but FCC job is clear to those who are paid to speak over the air regulated by the federal govt. Sterns move to Sirius is a smart move by him...now the feds wont have to worry about him testing them just to test them.

Just telling it like it is (was).
