I see what you're saying, and by no means am I calling you out on your views on running, but most kids at my school that take Health & P.E. do not run very solid mile times. By no means, would I consider myself fast at all (in fact I have such a goofy running form that it amazes me that I can run an adequate/decent mile time), but in my class the fastest time ran was 6:08, or thereabouts. I know for a fact that the track kids can run times comparable or around your times, but that's all I can think off the top of my head that can even run below 5:45(?) or somewhere around there.

I'm in pretty good shape, but I'm not saying that I couldn't be better. It just comes to prove how sad and pathetic it is that many kids in today's modern American society are out of shape, and would rather play video games or surf the internet (kind of like I'm doing right now :wink2: ), instead of getting themselves into the best physical shape possible, or even acceptable shape.

Like I said, we had one kid get the under time. Another said his time was 6:23, 3 seconds short of a "A". This kid runs track, went to states last year, and almost went this year. He runs 100 dash and 110 hurdles. I believe he went to state in the hurdles last year. Take it for what its worth, he was in excellent shape and still had a time that wasn't a "A".

Need I also say that the kid is also a football player, who was offered scholies by D1 schools like Air Force and Navy.

He isn't just short distance running guy. One of the best conditioned guys on the team.

Then you must have one sorry football/track team. 6:23 is decent, but its not spectacular. I ran a 6:15 mile, and I am by no means on any track team, and wasn't even in my best shape when I ran.

There were some kids in my class that were well under 6 minutes, and some were pushing to break 5. To break 6:20 is good, but it isn't outstanding.

We have one of the best teams in Columbus, as a matter of fact, we've been to the playoffs more times than any other school in the City League. In the last 7 years we have won atleast 8 games every year. Probably would've won state in 2004, after not getting to the playoffs with a 9-1 record. Missing out on that year, ended a 5 year run of consecutive playoff seasons.

Our football team is not bad

I heard the other day that teddy was maybe the best manager of the football team they've ever had. And he was sweet on the Gator. (no BS) Bravo!

Anything under 6:00 is very respectable for non-distance runners. Our soccer team in HS had to run timed miles and we'd only have about 5 or 6 of 40 make it each year.

As for conditioning, 6 minute miles, and bragging.... in the fall of my soph year of college, I ran a 10 mile time trial in under 59:00 (about 5:54 per mile).... thought I was going to die.

I respect what you're saying, and see where you're going, but by no means is a football team determined or defined by an individual's or team's combined mile times...
