so you would rather do your customers a disservice and not offer them the best product available? It took microsoft what? 10 years or so to release an updated OS, which then turns out to be the biggest over-bloated pos? Their next product windows 7 is nothing but a lame new name for Vista?
Windows 2000 came out in 2000, XP Came out in 2002-2003, Vista came out in 2006, where's this 10 year crap come from? I also get security updates, service packs and various addons for my OS on a regular basis. Sorry, I am a pretty high end tech guy, if you know how to properly use windows it's not a problem. Microsoft releases their OS's when the hardware makes the next jump, Apple does the same damned thing, that's why they moved from risc based processors over to Intel, the processor technology was moving faster.
The MacPro is using Xeon processors, the same processors I have been using in my servers for 10 years. Essentially, your new desktops are using hardware based for a server, that's not at all cost effective.
I priced out my pc, it's going to run me 3 grand, 8 gigs of memory, a terrabyte of hard drive space, quad core processor, dual 22" monitors and a friggin 32" Sharp Aquos HDTV for my media. I don't see the price issue at all.
I can agree if you're into gaming OSX isn't the best route to go just yet, but that is more the game makers fault rather than apple.
I made the switch because I too wanted a new computer but didn't want to pay for Vista, and didn't see why I should have to buy a product in XP that I have had for years. Apple products be it the ipod, iphone, OSX, Airports, monitors, ect. are all far supperior to any MS product out there.
Ipod is decent.
iPhone has a long way to go. Let me know when it stops dropping calls, starts sending video messages and has a copy and paste feature, then after that, let me know when they finally rip off blackberry and steal their push-mail feature. Microsoft makes an OS for portable devices, blackberry is the way to go though.
OSX only survives because Apple whines until Microsoft developes Office, Internet Explorer and whatever real application to keep it alive.
Microsoft has integrated the Xbox360 really well with the system, with my Windows Media Center edition it's turned my whole house into a compact media environment, from any room in the house I can access my music, videos, etc... including my entertainment center.
If everything is so superior why the hell did apple through a 6 year bitch fit about the fact that office wasn't available for the Mac?
Microsoft is a joke of a company and I really hope they can get their shit together so Apple doesn't become the next MS.
Microsoft has a far superior back end with Exchange, Windows Server, SQL Server, and many other back office applications. Trust me, the troubles with Vista are two fold, users used to XP, and Microsoft trying to make it so idiots don't destroy their PC's with every Virus and trojan they run across.
Any knowledgable user can do a lot with windows, and still have all the options a Mac provides.
We can go back and forth, I asked for advice on hardware specs for a Vista Ultimate machine, not to hear someone tell me about Macs.
