Picked up this game today and it is really good. Plays alot like Grand Theft. So far the story line runs parellel with GF1. Luca Brasi plays your mentor until he gets whacked. If you like the GF series and Grand Theft Auto, this game is right up your alley.

Here are my thoughts and review (I posted similar on another board)...

Note: This is a possible spioler, but no more than the actual movie.

Pretty cool they got all the original guys to do voices and their likeness for the game besides Al Pacino (yes, even Marlon Brando before he died). The plot line follows the original movie. You see Luca Brasi die, you kill Paulie (of course Clemenza tells you to leave the gun and take the cannolies), you put the horse head in the bed, you save the Don from the corrupt cops, you put the gun behind the old fashoined toilet (and watch Michael kill Sollozo and Cpt. McCluskey), you kill Tessio after his betrayal, and then kill the heads on the other 4 families while Michael is at the Baptism (after each kill he recites another vow). Pretty cool game. Alas, no Moe Greene other than a reference to his death.

The actual gameplay is nothing special, but for a Godfather nut this is a great game.

Overall the game is very true to the movie. The designers put alot of thought into keeping it close to the movie. Sometimes at a loss to the gameplay, but still cool. They do add a side story that is ok, but still in the theme of the GF.

My only other beef besides gameplay is it would have been better if they made the player Michael, especially since Al Pacino did not agree to give his voice or likeness.

Let me add, my beefs are minor. The gameplay is good, but I am putting this game up against the likes of Halflife (revolutionary twice). Yes, this is simialr to GTA. Maybe I was hoping for original gameplay, or not a GTA type game.

Essentially, this game is great. I think I put in about 30+ hours. Initially I was dissapointed with the gameplay since I know GTA so well and didn't think it would be the same, but in the end it is a great game.

Did not know Pacino didn't help in making of the game, that explains his horrible likeness and voice. They should have made him an offer he couldn't refuse.

I have found PC version kinda buggy. Anyone else get the game where everybody is just legs and down?

Just got this game last night (per BP recommendation), and it's awesome! Seems like a big map (at least as big as Gun) with tons of side missions outside the actual storyline. And I like the gameplay a lot: it's basically like GTA (which I consider a good thing), though EA does the driving differently, hand-to-hand and gunfighting are a little more complex (in a good way). I've hardly gotten into the story missions yet (or out of Little Italy), but I really like the negotiation/extortion to take over businesses and rackets, and that you get to choose which attributes increase as you gain experience.

It is very buggy on PC, and the controls kinda suck. I am going to do some tweaking on that though and see what happens. It's pretty good though overall.

I only had one bug the whole time I played. In the middle of a gun fight my crosshair dissapeared and all I could do was shoot at my feet. Luckily when I changed guns the crosshair came back.

As for controls I got used to them. Initially it was tough, especially the hand to hand combat. After time I got much better, and it's fun slamming guys into counters, through windows, and off buildings.

Yeah, it's sort of strange that he refused to help with Godfather, but he is helping with the Scarface video game. So he doesn't have anything against video games. My only guess is the money wasn't enough.

The game just crashed completely as if it was never running, right as I was at the end of the last mission.:pissed:
