Someone earlier in the thread said that there was a record of the IP address that was used to change the entries on wikipedia for the 1976 Rose Bowl and 1976 AA team. Is it the same IP address that this alwaysthere guy is on?

The IP address that was used on Wikipedia is 70.193.0.55.

Per Smartwhois, that comes out to a wireless data network that is at least registered by someone in New Jersey, but it's Verizon Wireless, which means it's a national network type thing.

It could be always there (I thought his IP as a 107.x.x.x or something), but it might not be.

I have this gut feeling the fine folks of BP just provided a service to the Buckeyes of the Charlotte chapter. Lies are used for one thing, some type of personal gain. In this case it could be monetary gain for the liar.

Hats off to all of you. I'm just upset I found this thread so late.

I believe this goes without saying, but sometimes, a McNeiling can be used for good...

It would be fun if they did, but we aren't close enough to the day after the MLB all-star game (the slowest day in sports all year) to get this one on ESPiN.

I'm sure they'd get MARK MAY BLEW 5 DUDES AT PITT to comment on it for sure.

I'll forward it on to Deadspin.

Two weeks ago, I was in Dallas for a meeting. One of my counterparts in the Charlotte area and I were talking about the Buckeyes and he said "do you know Giovanni, a former Great TE back in the 70's?"

I said no, I haven't heard of him but that's slightly before my time. He goes on to tell stories about how he sees him frequently at our place of employment. He said how he always tells the same few stories and at first it was cool, but now it's just old and annoying.

We were at dinner and didn't Google him on the spot so I assumed he existed, so I told him he should be thankful for knowing a Buckeye, deal with greatness, etc. etc.

My story adds no real substance to either side of this debate, other than I stood up for this unconfirmed Wiki AA. Does that make me an accessory to this potential crime?

IP address may be a public library. I was at a public library in Charlotte Thursday and couldn't edit Wikipedia because the IP address had been blocked. I did an investigation and traced it to this guy and then found this wonderful thread on this board. Y'all are doing a great job in outing this fool.
