never cared for the comic, but i can't understand how nick cage was cast as ghost rider...
Because he is a comic book junkie, and he has been begging anyone in Hollywood who would listen to cast him in a comic book movie for the past 17 or 18 years.

He has been trying to get a Silver Surfer film made (with him as the star) since 1991 or 1992, and his name has been attached to 100 different Superman screenplays that never made it through the first dozen rewrites.

Cage talks about it allot and anyone that knows anything about the comic industry knows it. It has been a running joke within the industry for years that anytime a comic movie is announce as to what part cage tried to get in it.

The Silver Surfer script has been floating around since the character entered pop culture with the Joe Satriani Surfing With the Alien album cover.

That was, what? 1989? I think I was a freshman in high school and the 'Silver Surfer movie starring Nicholas Cage' rumor mill was in full force then. Rolling Stone, Spin, Entertainment Weekly, Movieline ... every rag wrote about it. Cage regularly appeared on late night talk shows and talked about his comic book collection (which sold for $1.6M a few years ago at auction).

Arsenio ... Dennis Miller ... all those great, hip, late night shows that were on in the 90s had him on and talked comic books. :tongue2:
