Georgia Bulldogs (2021-2022 National Champions)

Clemson (3-2) points per game rank #124
UAB (3-2) #91
South Carolina (3-2) #109
Vanderbilt (2-3) #102
Arkansas (4-1) #60

Maybe pump the brakes on the "generational" talk? Just for a little while?
True, however, some of those poor rankings are due to playing UGA. So, until someone puts up 20 or more points on em, I'm putting them in the pretty damn good category

I'll give them pretty damn good.

I also can't escape the John Cooper led uber talented OSU teams of the mid 90's vibe they give off.

Seems like just a matter of time until they are exposed by a team of equal talent or spit the bit against an inferior one.

Yeah I need to see them do it against a good offense before we give them the “historical” treatment. That said they’ve looked damned good although I still think Bama beats them something like 24-3 if they lined up tomorrow.

As several of us observed in the Week 7 thread, it's a down-week for college football.

These guys thought so too, so they ran a hypothetical Ohio State vs Georgia matchup through their model.

These are the guys that run a modified version of DSA. The primary modification is that they calculate how well your differential numbers hold up against better competition. One of the reasons I like this is that their model thus, very predictably, is the first thing that exposes TTUN as a fraud every year.

This particular matchup was interesting to me for several reasons. First was the fact that these SEC guys openly acknowledge that this would be a legit matchup, nevermind the national media narrative. These guys follow the facts where they lead. They care too much what people say in the comments, but apart from that I like their channel and this is one of the reasons why. Second, it is amazing how similar Georgia's defensive DSA numbers are to the 2005 Buckeyes. The 2005 Buckeyes had Differential Rushing Defense of 52% vs 54% for Georgia (few teams ever get that close to 50%); for Differential Passing it's 75% for the 2005 Buckeyes and 74% for 2021 Georgia. Third, these guys question exactly the same things about Ohio State as I do: most notably the fact that we don't know yet what CJ Stroud will look like against an elite defense. Finally, it's fascinating that their model has this game as a pick'em right now; and even more fascinating that these guys think that Ohio State has more room to grow than Georgia does (I agree with them on that).

They most certainly did!
Right here is a photo of the 1890 Buckeyes.

I didn't know that: When Ohio State University began playing football, touchdowns were only worth four points and the football was shaped like a melon. Which explains the round ball.
