Sammy Watkins says Clemson should 'beat the mess out of' Georgia
Today is a big day in the college football calendar because it marks the first day that some schools around the country are officially members of their new conferences. It also marks the first day of the last month on the calendar that will not have a college football game played during it.
Yes, the season begins at the end of August. And one of the biggest games on opening weekend is
Clemson hosting
Georgia on Aug. 31. Though, if you ask Clemson receiver
Sammy Watkins about it, he'll tell you that the game should be a blowout if Clemson plays like it's capable of playing.
?Behind the scenes, we like our schedule,?
Watkins told the Greenville News. ?People talk about Georgia, Florida State and South Carolina, but I'm not worried about them, I'm concentrated on what we do.
?If we come out and beat Georgia, not just beat ?em but beat the mess out of ?em like we should, I don't see no problems in getting started in the right direction. I don't have disrespect for them or for nobody else, I just believe we can be just the kind of team we want to be. The talent is here. We know how to win.?
Now, let's be clear here. There's a distinction in guaranteeing you're going to beat a team and saying that you
should beat a team. Though I doubt people will bother to see the difference when it comes to what Watkins said, and I have a pretty good feelling that Georgia players will know all about what Watkins said before the two teams take the field.
Which is fine with me, honestly, because it's already a matchup of two of the better offenses in the country last season. A little extra motivation for both teams should only make the game that much better.
