Well, shoot:

ESPN- Florida part of NCAA investigation

Worst part is that, if true and they have to forfeit the bowl win, UC fans will have something else to brag about.

"Sure, we got asscrippled, but we weren't cheating!!"
Holy [censored]!!! I'm just glad that we dropped the nickel to the NCAA, rather than a rival or an investigator, if it turns out to be true. If we turned them in, I have to think it is true.

Considering the Tank Black thing in the 90s where he paid NFL bound UF clients to get them to agree to representation, if the university turns it in - like the Tank Black matter - the NCAA will not sanction you. (in fact they complimented UF for its compliance and recognizing and turning in the agent contact rather than ignoring or covering it up)

The fact that Tank Black stole millions of dollars from those UF players - including almost all of their signing bonuses - should have been enough to convince guys not to do business with dirty agents - but they always seem to go for the cash despite the history of bad news following that choice. :shake: [censored]. That really chaps me. :(

Pouncey's agent pled guilty to illegal recruiting in '95
The agent for Pittsburgh Steelers rookie offensive linemen Maurkice Pouncey pled guilty to a charge of illegal recruiting in 1995.

Monday, ESPN.com reported that according to unnamed sources Pouncey accepted $100,000 from an unnamed agent during the Gators 2009 football season.
ESPN.com does not say who that agent is, but Pouncey the 18th pick in the 2010 NFL draft is represented by Joel Segal who in 1995 pleaded no contest to a charge of illegal recruiting in a case against a former Florida State University cornerback Corey Sawyer.

Segal represents Reggie Bush, and in documents obtained by Yahoo Sports in the USC case, Segal's name is mentioned.
"We were made aware of some information in early June that we reported to law enforcement and we then shared with the NCAA and the SEC," University of Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley said in a statement. "At this time we have no information that has indicated that there are any compliance issues for the University of Florida."

Here is a sobering stat: Percy Harvey has the same agent

It's time for the NCAA to extend its hand to the NFL and ask for some help.
Would it be possible for the NFL to ban agents for the recruitment of new clients for 1 year if it is determined they contacted or attempted to contact players while still enrolled in school?

Ban them for a year and put all of their agent commissions (from that year) into a scholarship program to help injured athletes pursue graduate programs (but ending their athletic eligibility).

Actually, it is already a felony in Florida for agents to pay college players improperly, with up to 15 year jail time if convicted (only my memory)

And, of course, the denial. There is mention of a prior agent deal gone bad and letters from Canada squealing about it.

Pouncey plans to deny allegations on Tuesday | ONLY GATORS Get Out Alive

One thing I will mention, and no, this is not justification, is that Pouncey's dad lost a limb in an accident and they could use the money. Why, if true, they could not wait two or three weeks is beyond me. We will see, and if any dirt will stick, you can keep looking at the Miami Herald, dauntless hater of all things Gator to provide on-going speculation.

I hope to God that our compliance guys were on the ball.

This is another case of [censored] that could be easily resolved if the NCAA had the ability to subpoena bank records (with cause).

I'm not sure you really want to give the NCAA power to subpoena anyone's personal records. They aren't part of any US, State, and/or local law enforcement organization.
