Screw Blue
Okay, slow news day and I'm not really into arguing about who will win the fantasy MNC between LSU and scUM. So, I decided to troll on over to Swamp Gas to see if I can learn anything about our upcoming opponent. Ya know, I used to like UF. Mostly because I really hate Cryami and the CrimiNoles. But, the vast majority of the Swamp Gas folks just seem downright obnoxious. Granted, they are having to put up with some idiot Buckeye fans and posers who just like to stir the pot. Regardless, I've read a ton of ignorant crap over there. I've learned that they believe everything they read including trash gossip columns in the NY Post. They hate Herbstreit because he stuck to his assertion that scUM is the #2 team and should be in the NC game. They think that ESPN/ABC is out to get them just because not everyone is picking them to win the game. And Tim Tebow it their Ditaka -- some think he'd make a great running back or linebacker.

I know I'm not the only one trolling over there (and I'm sure some of you ar posting), so I thought it might be fun to dedicate a little space to posting some of the more entertaining nuggets provided by the Gator Nation. Anyways, I thought I start this off by sharing one of my favorite chunks of wisdumb. I chose this selection because it appears to be a serious attempt to provide analysis and not just some blowhard spouting off:

Re: Will the Gator D Get to Troy?

I hate to get into this, but ....

Deep6 saith: "Michigan damn sure wasn't in the backfield enough to slow down our offense." Er, O.K. Rhett, ... Right.

So let's see about that bodacious statement. Hmmmm. the ABC/ESPN acclaimed Mich studs score 25 points in the 2nd half, while the ABC/ESPN acclaimed tOSU studs score 14 total points in the 2nd half, and all on offense. How'd that happen?

Answer:

3rd Q: tOSU makes a 2 play, 65 yard drive(?), with Pittman gashing and sprinting for 56 yards. This is a gargantuan, ball-control, offensive series? Gash, sprint, score?

4th Q: tOSU makes an 83 yd. scoring drive, with a 13 yd. TD pass to Robinskie. Absolutely stunning; applause, and well done, 7 points.

Meanwhile, the ABC/ESPN acclaimed Mich offensive studs move up and down the field virtually at will on the big, bad tOSU defense. O.K., that's their offense v. your apparently somewhat porous defense, and yeah, I know already, if it wasn?t for the muffed snaps, they wouldn?t have had the ball - any, I guess. Only happens once a millennia, and so the story must be that it was tOSU that contained your own offense, and Mich had nothing to do with it.

Hmmm, on another note, I wonder what Mich's offensive production portends for your "capable of being porous defense" vs. our little offensive fellas - once we get the ball? We do get the ball some, don?t we? (I know, I know, your poor kick-off guy is gonna be exhausted by half time). So the only logical answer to tOSU's porous defense, 2nd half collapse must be, when projected against our offensive capabilities, that the ABC/ESPN acclaimed, studly Mich offense is more talented and able to execute better than our offense? If you buy that, well, I've got some waterfront property down here you might be interested in.

But back to your offense, something shut your offense down in the second half, didn't it? I mean, how can it be rationalized? Was it the Zebras? The home game crowd noise? Boredom? Cat playing with a mouse? Kindergarten 5th stringers? Or, did the ABC/ESPN acclaimed defensive studs from big, bad Mich playing smashy mout wid usse guys have something to do with it?

So, yo, Deep dude, I have tried to keep the swagger/smack retort at a minimum, but unless my eyes deceived me or the T.V. told yet another lie - or maybe the official box score did - the ABC/ESPN acclaimed studly Mich pass rush and defensive play calling had something to do with tOSU's/Troy Smith's offensive ineffectiveness in the 2nd half, and his lack of production.

And finally, although we are not ABC/ESPN acclaimed like the studs from Mich (were), we will do our humble best to play an even better defensive scheme than they did.

I don't know what I enjoyed more. His attempt to keep the "swagger/smack retort at a minimum" or the fact that he demonstrated that the "studly Mich pass rush and defensive play calling had something to do with tOSU's/Troy Smith's offensive ineffectiveness in the 2nd half, and his lack of production" by talking about how scUM was able to score 25 points. WTF??

I want to ding you for posting that.

I don't even know what it was trying to say. The line about waterfront property????....Is this person in Florida? I'm not sure he understands basic english.

I won't argue that our offense was ineffective in the second half. I will, however, argue that Michigan's defensive efforts are to blame. I'll attribute it to complacency. I never saw the players in "oh shit" mode. They came out in the second half and played as if it was in the bag.

Another slow day, this is my new favorite thread over in the swamp:

I have sneaky feeling that Hetland will play a big part n CG

I have this tingling feeling deep inside (and no, I did not have Tex/Mex tonight) that this game is going to be very close and Hetland is going to be kicking for the tie or win. Now, most of you would say that is a bad thing, but I think, after getting that 33-yarder in the SEC CG, that some, if not all, of that mental block has been lifted.

We know it is not a lack of ability. He went 13-16 two years ago. I think its is 100% confidence. I think he's transitioned from "Coach, maybe you should go on forth down this time" to "Let me kick the damn ball!" Like I said, its completely a feeling, but I have been known to be right before.

I have also been known to be completely wrong. Who knows, its the beer talking anyways

And my favorite reply:

Maybe he got a checkup from the neck up and will be fine. Chris Hetland will have three FGs in the game but they will be a non factor. We will be ahead by 10 for most of the game and will end up winning by 20.

I think the BB victory had gone to some of their overinflated SEC heads.

I think we can pretty much write off most of their fans base.
There are some great fans down there. Just not so many on that (Swamp Gas) board. :(
Oh, well.

Why bother with them?
This will be the same group making excuses for why they lost and not giving credit to the other team.
