My brothers and me would always try to make each other be the Lovely Ladies

They had a couple nice pitchers. Not to mention they were easy on the eyes in those little skirts. But yeah, I wasn't being the LL's. What was the one team...Ninja blacksox? I can't remember.

I just found this top ten list of the best Nintendo games of all time. I think I had 8 of the 10, I didn't have RBI Baseball, and I had Blades of Steel, not Ice Hockey. It's a nice trip down memory lane, for sure.

I honestly don't know how to express just how popular Baseball Stars was in words. It's like how do you explain Woodstock to somebody who wasn't there?

I had to pull up the trusty Wikipedia...

Although the game does not use any real Major League Baseball teams, one of the default teams, the American Dreams, included players with names that are based on real (former) baseball players such as "Pete" (Pete Rose), "Hank" (Hank Aaron), "Babe" (Babe Ruth), "Sandie" (Sandy Koufax), "Cy" (Cy Young), "Denny" (Denny McLain), and "Willie" (Willie Mays). In addition, the Japan Robins included a player named "Oh," presumably after Sadaharu Oh of Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball.
The other default teams are the Ninja BlackSox, Brave Warriors, Japan Robins, World Powers, Ghastly Monsters, Lovely Ladies (an all-women's team), and SNK Crushers.

No mention of "Joe." I always felt that he was the unsung hero of the American Dreams anyway. He would just show up to the ballpark every day and give his all. I couldn't have asked for more from a guy.

I feel old now.

7. Paperboy
To this day I think it is a mystery how Paperboy captivated a nation. It seemed like such an innocent game didn?t it? I mean what are the odds that a game centered around delivering a newspaper to somebody?s front door could generate so much excitement? But it did. Everybody who was somebody owned paperboy. People spent countless hours delivering to the white houses, avoiding the red houses, getting attacked by dogs, and avoiding parked cars. And when the frustration became too much to handle, even the strongest paperboy player would turn evil. Yes, the inevitable round of intentionally breaking windows and delivering to the red houses who didn?t subscribe.

I used to absolutely destroy people with the American Dreams. I think it was "Joe" who batted 3rd and hit home runs like crazy.

We played constantly in the barracks...everyone created custom teams. You'd playing against the computer you'd always pick the female team because they had the highest "popularity" (or whatever the equivalent rating was) and you'd get the most money for playing them.

All of our players were soon maxed out in every category.

I always had a least one female pitcher because their underhanded pitching style was all kinds of awesome.
