yeah, when mack got to texas he made a point of getting in good with the texas highschool coaches and trying to get the best talent in texas. If you can do that then there is no real reason to go oos very often except to grab an elite player here and there

Tressel has done more or less the same with Ohio..except when we need to break out and get some Florida speed of course

I imagine it would be much harder if Oklahoma was getting all of our star recruits though

What Texas OOS players do you predict to have an impact on the 10th? For OSU here are those that will have an impact on the game IMO (St = starter)...

Maurice Wells RB - FL
Stan White Jr FB - MD
Albert Dukes (next great WR at OSU) - FL
Rory Nicol TE - PA
Vernon Gholston DL - MI
St - Marcus Green DT - KY
Nader Abdallah DT - LA
Doug Worthington DE - NY
St - Anthony Schlegel LB - TX
St - Ashton Youboty CB - TX
St - Nate Salley FS - FL

yeah ou is a thorn in our side for recruiting, that is actually where much of the animosity (sp?) between these two teams comes from
Mack also uses the Texas talent and recruiting within as a CYA, but to be fair it is a more populated by about nine million, so you would think that there would be a few more football players in Texas.

However, once you win a NC, you can start to get through to more and more national recruits, a la OSU and OU. Texas' program wasn't that hot for awhile, and as we get more and more national recognition, our stock increases with recruits in the rest of the country. We did get Simms to Austin, which was a great recruiting coup, not to mention Ricky Williams in the past, and Bryan Westbrook, all out of staters. But, I hope that the Horns can beef up national recruiting, and I think that once Mack gets some time with some of the recruits, he can convince them to come to Austin. That being said, we have 23 commitments already for about 25 spots for next year, and we only have one commitment who could possibly be QB and it looks like he is more of an ATH.

but even ohio has roughly 25 OOS players or so. I found it quite impressive you all only had 12
It's probably just easier for us because we've got so many high schools and the state is so damn big. Texas' populations is roughly twice that of Ohio. And for the Ohio loyalists in the crowd, I'm not flaming.

OSu has been good since the 90s, with a few down years. Texas has not shared our success among the elite teams (tons of top-10 finishes) until recently, so they aren't going to have as many OOS players that would naturally be attracted to their school.

Jakes and Hall to help with the pass rush, but really not too much else that I can think of on defense. Sendlein and Studdard on the OL

Why don't you let us decide who's flaming and who isn't.
